1725SG2 Ti/SG2 JYD II

Thanks Robert! ;)

I just got my first Kershaw Ti JYD delivered about an hour ago and its Rockin! :) I wont do it any injustice since my pictures won't compare with Kneedeep's but suffice it to say that Kershaw definitely has a winner here! You guys won't be disappointed when you get yours and I believe it will be a great EDC! Perfect thickness and I personally dig the pocket clip design! :D

Glad to hear it Jim!! I just got home from work and checked my email to find that I have a tracking number with Knifeworks, so it looks like I'll be fondling in the next few days;)

What a nice looking Kershaw!

Cheers,
Jon

Great to hear they are getting into the hands of some more people!
Thanks for the complement, but please post pics if you take them, always good to see other peoples point of view.

OK, here ya go Kneedeep. :)

A group shot for comparison and some history on the knives I have.

The top model I got in a trade and was from what I under stand was one of Tims more original Junkyard dog models. Before I had got it it received some pocket time and had marks on the handle and also the blade. So being a hobbyist knife maker myself I like my collection pieces to be as pristine as possible so I kinda buffed the handle up a bit and re did the pocket clip since it was all scratched up and I tryed to remove some marks from the blade that IMO looked bad. Well I initially made them worse so I redid the whole blade and brought it to 1500 grit satin finish and when Tim gets some time its going to go back for a minor refurb and get his logo put back on but I am in no big hurry on that. ;)

The second knife down was a collaboration that Tim did with Lee Williams called the Scorpion and was auctioned off at the Plaza show I believe in 2006. Both of those knives went through my good buddy Tarek/Badlamma and now reside with me. :D

The third one down came from the Chicago classic Invitational show this year. Theres 100 people that pay to go to a closed door show. Tim only had 1 JYD there and that was the only knife I went to try to buy. Theres lots of deal making going on and my name wasn't drawn for it but I managed to be able to purchase it from the guy that did get drawn. :)

Now to the Kershaw run of Tims custom design. Its a little more squared off than the custom but not by much. Its got a all Ti handle, how cool is that! I already engine turned the screws on mine since I prefer that look. It flips real nice and IMO has some endless possibilities if you want to do some type of pimp work to it down the road which I may just do. ;)

Now for some pics...........Enjoy, Jim

Now I'm really jealous. Not only will I not see my Ti/SG2 JYD II until I get back for my business trip, but there are those other beautiful knives.

. . . So being a hobbyist knife maker myself . . .

Jim's being pretty modest about his skills here; he does some great stuff. I guess I'l play with this one while I'm waiting for my JYD . . .

So you ended up with that one from Tarek! You must be Art, Congrats! Only one other thats remotely like it and Ken Chu has it! Enjoy............;)

acourvil, you are right, Jim is being modest! That is a beautiful knife!
Great work Jim!

Thanks for posting the pics. I love those custom Dogs. The Scorpion collaboration is particularly cool.
The variation in the lamination line on the SG2 Dog is interesting to see. It looks like each one will be unique. Besides the rarity, this will make them even more special!

I hope it is OK with you, but I tweaked the white balance a bit so everyone can get a better idea of the colors.

It would be interesting to see how the SG2 Dog would look with the handles themselves engine turned. Sticking with the aviation theme, it'd be reminiscent of the Spirit of St. Louis (especially if just the first panel, around the pivot were turned). I think it might look pretty nice. I'm not sure what would need to be done to protect the finish afterward though. Maybe it would be worth trying on a JYD I first?

Oh, and Jim, by the way, you suck! ;):D

No problem with the pics! and Thanks :D I love Tims work!

I have a few other things I need to attend to first in the shop but I was eventually thinking of high profiling/contouring the handles on the production model like the custom ones Tim did and then high polishing them and then adding some heat coloring. I will try to retain the bomber treatment but if it get distorted it will go or get a Ti overlay then to build the thickness back up. Will also rework the blade with a nice satin finish and acid dip to get a high contrast on the San-Mai. This all may take a little while and I don't want to ruin the intent of this thread with Kershaws new roll out of this limited production knife. ;) But if/when I ever do decide to try this I will put a few pics up for your viewing pleasure. So for the rest of you guys, keep those pics of your own Kershaw Ti SG2 JYD's coming! :D Its a great knife!

I was in the area today so I took another peek at the Kershaw sale... they still had a few of the Sg2 XXXX, but all the black g10 models were sold. Still had a few of the olive G10. I had a chance to talk to Thomas a bit more, kudos to him for being there on a sunday. Before I left, He flagged me down to give me a JYD all black, 1725blkst they found. No XXX's!. I didn't notice the price he stamped on it until I checked out. I'll miss him on here, but I know where to find him ;)

Nice little purchase there, OE. Really generous of Thomas to hand over that G10 model for such a great price. I know you guys up there hate getting over populated with so many Californians, but I tell you, every time I hear about the Kershaw factory sales I ponder selling my house and headin' north!!:D

Cheers,
Jon

Oh man, I just paid my $7500 property tax bill today and have spent most of my breath complaining to the wife about how tough Christmas is going to be after having had to drop that much cash!! But every time I read this thread I start to salivate, and now I've gone and ordered one! Oops, how did THAT just happen???? That was weird, one minute I was just browsing the Knifeworks site, and the next thing I know my credit card info was on the screen. Freaky, huh?

Good thing I had it mailed to my work address;)

Have a good weekend all!!

That is the bad thing about having your card number memorized, huh.
Too easy to order something you really know you should not order.
I know, I just ordered one.:D

Well, my bank merged with another and I ended up with a new number altogether - and it didn't stop me from pulling the trigger on this one. I think they could've buried my debit card at the bottom of the ocean and I would've still found a way. ;)

And this is my which just came today:

Thanks, Vassili.

(I'll check sharpness this evening...)

Yes, I did split hair with my SG2 JYDII. Thread sharpness test shows 30g:

20 +++++++
30 +++X+++++++++
40 +

This is outstanding sharpness!

Thanks, Vassili.

nozh2002, Great shots!!!!!

Thanks Tim,

BTW, I just look at last shot where G10 and Ti is side by side...
Should not it be to hard to Kershaw to make so popular now G10+Ti combination like on ZT300? With some colorful (orange) G10 opposite to titanium framelock?

I thought I can combine this two knives myself, but I guess screws positioned different way on last model at the end of the handle...

Just thinking out loud.

Thanks, Vassili.
