Wow Bobby I never thought the Swattie had so many bluegills! I haven't been fishing in years but just went to BassPro last week to gear up again. Hopefully I can get out sometime next week!

I didn't pull them from the Swattie Colin, They came from a lake that I've got permission to fish, Hidden Lake off of Union Deposit. After we ran out of meal worms, I put on a Roostertail and caught a big-ole-bass too.

I usually hit the Swatara Creek for Rockbass and Sunny's too....but the damn creek is too high and muddy. Those rockbass eat up good....and....yummy!

Went out with the wife on Monday. My wife loves to fish but she would rather have a constant bite of pan fish than pound the water for that one lunker.

Took the boat out with the GPS. With her and I, fishing gear and no wind we topped out at 11 MPH.

Caught a ton of these that were still on the beds.

I managed one Largemouth on a white spinner bait with a single gold Colorado blade. I had been throwing it along the weed line looking for some pike but this guy was the only thing interested.

Note the camouflage Kenworth hat. Seems to be a trend within this thread. I usually wear my Akubra or my faded-to-brown-worn-out Busse Combat hat but I grabbed this one in stead.

Looks like it'll be my lucky hat for a while. Camo seems to be helping everyone else here :D:p.

Chris,

That is a fat-ole-large mouth you reeled in there....nice job! I'll bet he gave you a good fight. I really like that pretty bluegil though, nice and chubby. Do you folks eat them....5 or 6 make a great meal?

My daughter catching her first at a friends stock pond in Missouri.

We finally made it out to the island. Got back yesterday afternoon. We had a wide open evening bite on white seabass that lasted for about an hour. Those pictured were the two biggest at 35-40 pounds. My two biggest were in the 25-30 lb range. I could only get a picture of one of mine, as it was too crazy at the time, so we all just had a photo op with the two biggest just before cleaning them. The single seabass that I'm holding is one that I caught.

We also picked up quite a few really nice yellowtail. I did get the yellow that I'm holding in the picture. One of the guys got a 30lb halibut and we caught a mess of calico bass.

I wanna go back out!

The sandbass have moved back into the lake and the action has been hot. The pic was on the main lake yesterday.

Incredible!!! Man, I miss SoCal. Where did you go out of? What boat? How long? I am gonna try to make it down in the next month and atleast slip in a 3/4 day but preferably a day and a half trip.

I gotta go make some ceviche to get rid of this aching in my chest.

Matt

It was a 2 day trip out of Huntington Harbor. It was on a private boat that's owned by a friend of a friend. There were quite a few charter boats out there. They all seemed to be hooking up pretty good. I would definitely go for as long as you can, especially if you go to San Clemente Island. They have been doing good at Catalina too.

We left the dock at 7 PM, got to the island about 11:30 and made bait, got up early and fished the whole next day. The live squid worked great on the yellowtail, but most of the sea bass were caught on dead squid. It was good to have that full day of fishing the second day, as the sea bass bite came on about 6:30 that evening. We spent a second night out there, but only fished a little bit the next morning and then headed back. we had plenty of fish.

I hope you are able to get down here and go out. I hope to get back out in late auguast or September.

Take Care, Greg

Hit the water today. Weather was gorgeous. Water was calm.

I made the mistake of not wearing the camoflage hat I mentioned in my previous post. Bacause of that, all I could lay into were panfish and a single yellow perch. A friend of mine went with me and we failed to hook a single Bass or Pike. Didn't even get a good amount for the freezer. This was all we ended up taking home.

Ass yo can see, the Busse Combat hat was the hat of the day.

You'll also notice I forgot the stringer. I had to use a piece of paracord and the bead chain from my Koster K5 neck knife. That's why they call 'em survival bracelets, right?:p

Thanks again for lookin',

Chris

Chris,

Fillet them bad boys up, that a nice meal for one with beer batter and side dish.
