Carolina River Rat,

It's probably better for all of us that the feisty little buggers don't get that big.

I hear what your saying....they'll eat anything in their path this time of year!

It's a White Sea Bass, caught near Catalina Island, off the coast of So. California.

Nice! Californians representin'! A white sea bass, I mean a nice white sea bass and some abalone. I would love to hear more details of both. What did you catch the wsb on? Bait? Lure? Pole? Reel? WHere did you get the octopuss. How did you prepare it?

Guitardemon, I have mainly been diving just south of Ft bragg at the north end of Jug Handle SP. I moved to Mendo a few years go. Before that I dove the sonoma coast heavily. Where you at?

Matt

I just graduated from Humboldt state so I was doing a good amount of my fishing up there. Those abs were taken from shelter cove. I am back in the bay area now though so I'll probably be hitting up the salt point area more. We are looking at trying out bodega bay this weekend (hopefully there is something out there) The octopus was taken in Trinidad. Cooking it is a lot like abalone, pound it and then cut up into small pieces and fry it up.

I have some good dive spots around Ft Ross. If you want big Abs hit up Sea Ranch. Email me and I can give you detailed directions.

I live now live in Santa Clarita. I was born in Santa Rosa, but we moved south shortly after I was born. We spent many summer vacations up there while I was growing up, especially in the redwoods around Weott. I never did get to do too much fishing, other than one great trip for salmon out of Eureka.

The sea bass were caught on squid, but again, that's a friend of mine. I just couldn't resist posting his picture. I am going out with him next week. I hope the squid and the sea bass are still around!

perchjerk ,

Crappie!!!, now that's what I'm talking about. Those are some nice size....good eating. What state do you live in....are they from a lake/river....or?

Great Catch:thumbup:

I pulled those from Lake Sam Rayburn here in the great state of Texas! and yes! they are some of the best eatin fish IMO! very clean meat! all our crappies were slabs for the most part averaging about 12-13 inches along with a few monsters llike the one showed!

I'm hear in Hershey, PA....not many good Crappie spots unless you want to drive for a couple of hours. We got some nice Bluegil fishing though and some really good rockbass fishing in the Swatara Creek. I haven't been in the creek this year....too much rain....creek is up too high. I have caught over 200 palm size or bigger bluegil though. Man are they good eats!!!!:D

I from SoCal originally. I grew up fishing out of Dana Point and Mission Bay. Those are my home waters. I miss them. From what I hear the WSB are in thick. You might even score on some Yellowtail.

Some are saying that there might be an el nino this year. If so I am selling a kidney and spending the rest of the year fishing down south.

Good look at the islands.
