When GEC puts slant bolsters on their Cattle knife, it sure improves the look of it!
Wish we had a better pic of this; it's a great knife!

Thanks, Dave! You know more about my knife than I do!

If you guys can keep the cost under $120 with shipping (I have to take account the more expensive shipping to Finland) I am in definately. Whatever you guys decide I am in, aslong blades are carbon steel.

But its sure, we don't get special tang stamp, special shield and expensive handles while making semi-custom. I am ready to get cheaper scales and drop the tang stamp. Smooth bone handles might drop price bit but for $100 compromises must be done.

Regardless of the pattern..I'm in....though a Congress or Harness Jack would get my vote.

Hi waynorth -

Here is one that caught my eye from GEC -

It is listed for < $90 -

And you just cannot beat a trapper imo - look at this new Moon Pie Trapper listed on the CS site - wow - and it is under $100 - so even with the custom tang stamp I think you could get in at $100 (guessing you can get a deal with a bulk order?)

Queen offers this trapper (#51T) that I have seen for around $70 retail

I would consider a trapper or small jack knife if that is what is chosen.

or a BIG stockman. At least 4". I like the big clip blade, and maybe a spey and harness punch. Bone scales.

+1 on this one. Would be great if there could be a main blade in a so-called premium steel.

But good carbon steel throughout would be fine.

I just happen to have one I took:D
The biggest problem would be that is about $175 knife, with genuine stag that is.

That's a gorgeous knife. Think they'd knock $75 off for the bulk rate? :D

I'd love to see a large, single blade slippie for 2010. Something like a large Toothpick, or a single bladed Trapper would be sweet!

And, here's an image of a teardrop Harness Jack, as described above;

I have forgotten how long it is. I will look into that.

Sir Charles, I forgot about that one! I'm almost certain it is 3-7/8, but of course in 420 HC. How about that one in snakewood, like GEC uses, and with our tang stamp, and a really cool, new shield. Man, would that be gorgeous!

And of course, in 1095.

Either a fancy sodbuster or a nice Peanut. Something BIG or something small. Bone or nice wood, either is fine with me.

No plastic though. I detest plastic.

Great idea, a peanut or sodbuster would be great. But like others have mentioned, it doesn't matter what we all agree on, I'm sure it will be awesome.

Thanks for getting this going guys.
I know it's not easy .. so ta.

My number one request would be for any cutting edge to be 3" or less, so I can carry it more often.

I like the thought of a GEC, they make some good looking knives.

A 3 blade stockman or a scout would be my first choice, but I think multiple blades might break the price ceiling ?

A canoe sounds good.

I would prefer it if it weren't a wharncliff .. but it certainly wouldn't be a deal breaker ;)

+1....I could even go for a single blade tear drop as it might lower the cost.

That stockman idea is so 2008. Enough already.

FLymon's knife is actually a Cattle knife, wintermute; different animal. And our 2008 stockman was a small one - this Cattle knife is BIG!! Over 4"!!

Is that a 2 backspring knife, FLYMON??
