My vote at this point in the discussion:

Teardrop Harness Jack

Handle: How about HORN? Cow Horn can't be expensive ...is there a reason we don't see it used more than it is these days?
....otherwise: just about anything BUT NOT Ebony

If the jack cannot be a "harness" (2nd blade would be a punch, as I understand it) then I'd vote for the 2nd cutter to be a Coping blade -- useful and you don't see them often enough.

Put me down for TWO! :D

BTW: My first choice for the master blade would be Sheepfoot or Wharnliffe

AND, planting a seed for NEXT YEAR 2012: how about a classic "rigger" -- Sheepfoot master, marlin spike and cap lifter (more useful these days than a can opener) ???

I'm all about a teardrop! We came close to having one for 2010 - second place I believe!
Jigged bone teardrop, 1095 steel like the good old days.
Easy open or not - I'm easy about that (har har):D!
Here's a Schatt with a wide blade. The swedges look better with a glaze finish instead of a high polish. The polish blurs the edges IMO.
Nice size at 3 3/4"!!
I'd bail on the bail though!!

I like these suggestions.

I'm good with an EO too, but do not really care. I would appreciate the bail as an option. Especially would not want the bail in a hole option. I see those minus the bail quite a bit. Feel the same way about Ebony. Not that I don't like it, just not two years in a row for the forum knife. Jigged bone would be my preference. Shield mandatory.

I'm in. I "officially" change all my votes to this EO/Teardrop Jack (but I'd still be happy with a "Canlow" ;) )

I'd be OK with just a center pin, "fat" spear w/ longpulls and swedge is a must, but I'd like the following options (if possible):
  • Bail / No bail (this shouldn't complicate production that much)
  • Wharncliff or Cap-lifter secondary (this might pose a bigger issue -- I have a slight preference towards the lifter)
  • Something other than 1095 this time (I like it, but I have a hankering for SS this time around) -- 440c, 14-4 CrMo, 154CM, D2, CTS-20CP, etc...they're all good.

The dark jigged bone, NS bolsters, and long shield all look great to me. Plus, saving a little money on the handle material (jigged bone) would allow for a higher-end blade steel. I bet CSC would do a fine job with this one....

I'm with you. I would love to see a cap lifter as a secondary. What a great combo.

Found an image for a vintage EO Harness Jack from 1902. This example is not in the greatest condition but does give us all a rough idea of what we are considering. I'd also love to see more examples..

Oh, I don't know, Anthony, I think that right there looks right nice. Maybe nice peachseed jig bone scales and spruce it up and you've nailed it there.

Wayne,

I reckon you and I are pert near riding along the same set of tracks, as I was visualizing a nice tightly jigged set of vintage looking peach seed bone scales too!.... Or perhaps a jigged vintage set of old world red bone or even winterbottom bone in the same pattern.. :D

Something like the GEC 73 or 72 pattern, single-blade, would be amazing. A half-trapper, backpocket wouldn't be half bad either.

Seems I have thing for single-bladed knives, now that I'm think about it

This was waiting in the mailbox when I came home today. I'm really pleased with this Utica. Thought I'd upload an EO with a nice brown jigged bone.
We've done ebony, we've done stag (a couple times?). Whatever we do for a pattern, and I do hope its an EO, lets get nice jigged bone handles this year.

:thumbdn:Corey, I agree with you, EO would be great! Dark Brown Peachseed jigged
bone! With a Traditional shield would be a good choice! IMHO!

Can we get it was a bail and a sweet stainless steel? Please. If so I change my vote as well.

I'm down: EO teardrop with jigged bone and (cap lifter/wharncliffe/punch) and big spear. With bolsters on both ends. With or without bail.

That's a nice one Corey. I agree about the jigged bone and since it can be dyed almost any color we should get something besides brown or black. I'd be happy with just about anything else, be it amber, red, green, blue, or whatever.

I also like the shape of the S&M Teardrop Charlie. I would like something a little smaller this year though, preferably 3 1/2" or under.

Oh, and did I mention that I would rather have a cap lifter for the secondary?:D The screwdriver is way more useful for me than a punch. I bet the wharnie wins in a vote between all three though.

I'd agree with you on this choice Nixel, since a Scout seems out of the running for now.

Gents, I'm liking this choice more and more, esp. since a Scout seems unlikely. Blue, green, amber, then red would be my choices for color, in order. And lifter/screwdriver with bail.

There she is! I hope you wouldn't mind another one because I'd love to see the Forum knife be identical to this one. From the jigged bone and bone color to the blade pull and swedge, I even like the pen blade although a different secondary blade would be ok.
