Lordy...all the suggestions. What's a man to do. Haven't been on BF in a couple of days and all of a sudden we have the makings of the 2011 knife.

I'd like to see a swayback,

or better yet: An equal end cattle knife as similar to the one in Elliott's avatar as possible. I don't know if any manufacturer is making that pattern, with that combination of blades, but it doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to pull off (relatively speaking).

Wow, 2011. How time flies and all that. I'm good with a Sunfish or Toenail, but. What do you folks think of Micarta scales and maybe a wharncliff smaller blade? I think some old school Micarta would be real classy....

I also want to add, that a toe nail is not out of reach for $100.00 We are getting a great deal on these due to the nature of the forum knife business venture. If that is what you are thinking then vote toe nail. I have heard just this news today from a very credible source, that it is not unrealistic, so I myself changed it to my first choice. If it is cost prohibitive, then we deal it from there, we would find out soon enough to change direction.
Shucks, if we could actually do a toenail for a hundred bucks, that would be an incredibly good deal:thumbup:. Cancel my peanut order and supersize me:D .

If we can get a toenail for under a hundred, I'm in for two. Heck, I'm in for two even if it goes over a c-note, but not everyone is as crazy as I am. :D

Hmmm -- if we do go with a Toenail, how about one with SS bolsters & blade -- and perhaps some ironwood or blackwood?

I keep looking at Russell's:

and think I could live with something like that! ;)

*I still prefer the idea of a "Canlow" -- spear/Wharny...*
SS bolsters & liners
CPM-154, D2, or maybe a Sandvik steel...
Dark wood w/ stylized long shield (like above)

I worry this would be over $100 though, so NS bolsters & brass liners would also work if we could get something like CPM-154...

I'm in for whatever gets chosen this year as well. I wouldn't mind seeing a single blade Gunstock or a Teardrop. I'd love to see a Scout style knife with only one spring, kind of like a Vic Bantam with bolsters and bone scales.

Samid,

Your vote counts equal to anyone's here.

Welcome to Bladeforums. Traditional is a wonderful subforum.
Thanks - I know that Traditional is a good place - have been lurking for a while here :)

Guys, thanks for stepping up to bat
Kudos

We have done Stag and Wood, time for bone? Something translucent as only bone can be.
We have done Carbon and D2, time for ATS 34?

A Half Congress at 3 1/2" or 3 5/8"
Both Queen and GEC have this pattern
Sheepsfoot and a pointy spear/pen as second
Why?
I want something that is easily pocketable, that will get lots of use.

A 3 3/4" S&M Sowbelly (we have not had a larger 4" stockman, and a Sowbelly would be different)
Pen instead of Spey

An S&M Teardrop Harness Jack with an Endcap with a spear as main

For me bigger knives just are to big to EDC and turn into a collectors piece
A Sunfish instead of a Toenail?
If a Toenail then what about a S&M Wildcat Driller Whittler, these retail at just over $90

thanks

Team 2011 (Andy aka Mqqn, Campbell aka Cnas122 and Chris aka Cj65) are honored to organize the process to develop the 2011 Forum knife.

What are your pattern preferences?

Gentlemen I thank you for undertaking this task on our behalf........:)

My preferences are......

1. Teardrop Jack
2. Large Cattle Knife
3.Two Bladed Trapper around 3 3/4"

I would like to say that No matter what get's chosen I am in for two......Consider this a definite commitment:)

I'm not going to miss this one regardless of what knife style is picked. I'll be "IN" for at least one. I was not particularly fond of the 2010 knife until I saw the finished product. Wow!! what a sweet knife!! and the 2009 Barlow is a real beauty - hate I missed that one too. My favorites would for a 2011 forum knife would be a Copperhead, mini Copperhead (wharncliffe main), SBJ, peanut. I like CPM-154 or even 440C for blade and ebony/blackwood for handle but we just had that handle done, so maybe it is time for some bone. This is a daunting task for anyone to take on. I know I'll be happy regardless of the way this winds up. Thanks for taking on the task.

I don't have much income but I think I can scrap in next 6 months bit money so I am in. Tear drop jack, Sunfish look great. I'd also love GEC # 48 single blade slim trapper or similar style... Or Congress.

I'll chime in, feel part of the forums now

I'd like 1-2 too

some I'd love to see are, in micarta possibly 8-)
for the steel something cool like ELMAX, M390, vanadis4, cpm3v ,CPM-M4, CPM-154,RWL-34,19c27, O1
steel liners and bolsters
lanyard hole

-Micarta Soddie in good steel 3 3/4"
-Sunfish 3 3/4" (slimmer than gec 36)
-3 3/4" trapper/copperhead/saddlehorn orsimilar 2 bladed knife in euther clip/drop and wharnie/sheep or clip/medium pen blade
-single blade like the tribal spear, maybe with a small pen wharnie?
-Scout knife in 2011 style

these some my mind would like to see, hope they're good
tried to think about something I'd have made custom as it's not yet available

WATCHA THINK?
Maxx

What do I think? I think you know your steel, as well as your knives.
