A Harness Jack pattern on a tear drop frame is my 1ST choice, however, my 2ND choice is a tear drop Easy Open pattern..

The slippy below is a vintage EO pattern, KUTMASTER, UTICA, N.Y., U.S.A. likely produced by Schrade in the late 1950's-60's and is 3 3/8's closed.. In my opinion this knife may be a good example to think about..

If a toenail can't be done for a reasonable price, what about a Baby or sleeveboard. I'm picturing one similar to Elliot's Don Hanson model with a spear and Wharncliffe just in a smaller package. Make it in D2 and I'll be buying at least two.
I hope Elliot will forgive me for borrowing his photo.

First, let me say thank you to the 2011 Bladeforums traditional knife project team, Andy, Campbell, and Chris, for taking on the task.

Following Protourist's suggestion, I too like the toenail or sleeveboard idea, with jigged bone. Wonder if DH would do a custom run for the group, similar to Elliott's shown above.

I know what I don't want.
Toothpick
Trapper
Canoe
I'm really starting to warm up to these EO's.
Single blade lock type would be nice also.

First, thanks to the guys in charge this year. It couldn't be done without you.

I'm in for what ever develops. Having said that, I'd love to have something with a blade that has some swoop and swedge to it if that's possible in a production environment for $100.

A couple ideas:

First, from Master TB:

Second, from Kerry Hampton:

If those don't fly my next choice would be a Zulu pattern.

Farther down the ladder I'd go Canoe or single blade trapper similar to the GEC #72/73.

I like D-2

I kind of like the "Canlow" idea but I'm not sure if the spear blade would work asthetically? Isn't the beauty of a Canoe pattern the graceful curvature of the whole knife while it's closed? Would the spear break up those lines? Forgive me if I'm overlooking something.

My suggestion would be for a "Canlow" -- a single backspring Canoe w/ a Spear (main) & Wharny (secondary) blades. Think of it as having the two blades from the Dan Burke/Queen Barlow in a (Queen-made?) single backpring Canoe frame. Also, I wouldn't mind seeing the next one in D2 or perhaps even CPM-154... I never thought I'd develop a preference for stainless blades in a slip-joint, but some of my recent stainless (or "semi-stainless") slippies have been growing on me.

Otherwise, I'd like to see a 4" Trapper w/ a long swedged clip and a Wharny secondary blade.

I like the EO with a bail (just like the ol' Remingtons) even more than a dogleg. :o
That would be the bee's knees.

These are growing on me, especially if a Scout isn't among the final choices. Spearpoint, bottle opener, and bail (or lanyard hole). All stainless with jigged bone would be the "Bees Knees" for me, too. :D

The BFC 2011 info in the shield would be sweet, too.;)

Every Canoe I've ever seen has a main spear blade.

I think the shield should be left uncluttered. The 9 dot tang stamp is more than enough for me. I thought the whole point of having it made in the first place was to do away with any etching or engraving in future forum knives.

Just had a thought...I might be the only one, but I'd like to see a 4 blade stockman with a hawkbill/pruning blade like the Old Cutler yablanowitz has.

Sorry - not nearly enough sleep this week. In my mind I thought the suggestion was for something pointier like the Tribal Spear blade. Your right, Canoe's have a spear blade.

It's ok zippin,

Get some rest then come back and have some fun helpin us dream up this years knife.

I could really go for an Easy Open! I like the old time feeling it has, and besides you hardly ever see new easy opens - I think it's a great idea for the 2011 BF Knife!

That easy-open is a beauty. That would be a good one.

Not a huge fan of the toenail, but I wouldn't say no. It just wouldn't be my first choice.

EASY OPEN!

Glenn

I'm gonna have to say...

1st: Easy Open jack with a spear master(long pulls), wharncliffe secondary, brown peachseed jigged bone with federal shield, no bail.

2nd: Single blade trapper(full size, not slimline)(swedged and long pulls) clip blade, stag, bomb shield, lanyard hole.

I'm on record earlier for a sodbuster however I really like the knife Anthony linked. Something with a spear-point, bottle opener/screwdriver, and bail. I've been carrying a Case Scout Jr. and I'm loving it.

I'm not an expert on the topic but i would like to see a knife like the 2007 forum knife. I like Zippin44's idea. Whatever is decided, I will take 2 of them. Thanks Guys

A 1/2 Congress is still my first choice, but

A Tear Drop Easy Open pattern with the Bail, like above is quite special for a one off Forum knife

Could it be Harness Jack Tear Drop with an Easy Open?
That answers the Harness Jacks and the Easy Opners

Count me in for an easy open jack with cap lifter. Bail optional, but if no bail then how about a thong hole?
