Really looking forward to this...
My wish list (not that I know anything, and I'll buy it anyway, but...)
Wraparound spring - looks SO nice
Looooong sheepsfoot primary with swedges
Longer than average pen secondary, or maybe a small clip? Hmm

Other than those things, well, as I said, I'll buy one regardless. But I might buy two if it has those things.

<Edit to add a picture, not mine, but beautiful example another member posted in the other thread>
If it were close to this, I'd buy two and maybe three

I really like this. Throw on ivory micarta and we are golden. I love the bolster style on this knife :)

According to the info Talmadge provides, these are the "Non-stainless Steels (carbon, alloy, and tool steels)":

D2, M2, A2, O1, W-2, 1095 (and 1084, 1070, 1060, 1050, etc.), 50100-B, L-6, 5160, 52100, CPM 10V, CPM 3V. Personally, I'd like something different than the 1095 used in last 3 annual knives. Sounds like there are a couple of strong objections to D2 and O1. How about some of the other non-1095 choices if the manufacturers can provide them at reasonable cost?

This pic posted by Mink, is perfect. If we must have Micarta covers, I prefer Butterscotch, or darker.

My thanks to all involved for your effort and good taste.

Sincerely,

Mike H.

just speculating here, but what if it just had 1 bolster rather than 2 and going about 1/3 of the way down the handle, with no sheild?

Ah, the estimable bareheaded ConLow. Or is it the BarGress?

(Blaine is so much better at this.)

I'm thinking a drop point blade, but the size of a pen blade. The pen is like a small spear with the tip in the center..... move the tip higher up and you get more belly..... that's a drop point.

I like the idea of using something other than a pen blade secondary. However, I think getting the blade tip of a drop pt below the liners might prove difficult without giving the blade having a high run up.

I wonder if GECs little clip blade they've used on the 25s would be a better option?

A Serpentine Swell End Barehead Congress Jack or SSEBCJ, doesn't that just roll off your tongue?

I have to disagree there, I think it looks pretty good, and would solve the issue of those wanting more belly than a pen.

Honestly, I think you could work with that pen (make it longer and bring the sharp edge lower) and you'd have the drop point. The clip just looks funny to me. Maybe if you took that shape, but lengthened the blade.

Here's another version of a small clip which might appeal to you more. Nothing against your WLST® Sarah (or whatever it was) :)

But I think the main problem is to keep the tip in the frame. As you can see it's already really tight with the pen blade, which has the nail nick further forward than the clip (and even then a cutout is needed).

Of course there isn't. :p

Just to be clear, I'm not proposing or recommending the clip blade as seen as a secondary on the #25s-- or better yet, similar-but-elongated-- just providing an existing picture for illustrative purposes.

I like that version as well. I think the semi-consensus is for a blade with more belly to offset the straight lines of the probable primary blade (sheepfoot or wharnecliff). The more you drop the point on any of these will serve to straighten the cutting line and thereby do away with the intent (belly) of it to begin with. I am sure there is a happy medium somewhere, just not certain where it is.

Well, something along the lines of the Modified Pen blade that CASE uses on the Small Texas Jack would be highly suitable. Longer and broader than the run of the mill Pen blades. Some Whittlers offer interesting small Clip blades, this too is worthwhile. After all, IF it's called a Congress Jack then surely it must have a small blade as its minor, not some Turkish Clip, Spey etc.?!
