“The Price is Right”... pricing! The winner is the person that guesses the price with shipping that doesn’t go over the stated $100 limit. P.S. it ain’t gonna happen. Not here anyway.

If you want grooves, that should be more important to you than a leather pouch or a box. Besides, all options take us over the limit. I can't believe that someone would choose non grooved simply because of a box, if they truly wanted grooves.

Just to be clear on my position....I do want the box, but I didn't vote that way specifically for that reason. I think the elk will stand out on it's own without any accents. It makes a boring cover like black delrin stand out, but I don't think this knife needs that. This thing will be coming to work with me everyday, so I don't need it to be extra fancy. When it comes down to it, I'll change my vote if necessary since the box isn't going to be in contention. But for now I'm sticking with what I want...

Embellishments often are best when considered and applied on a case by case basis.
Both of these look just right (even though different) and I for one would not change either of them.

I can't speak for the forum knife conductor at that time, but I can tell you I gave my word to Spark on the 100 dollar mark.

That being the case, and I mean this with all due respect, why is this poll even being conducted since all the options involving grooved bolsters run the price above $100?

Beautiful set you've got there redsparrow redsparrow , but not truly representative of our knife. Take a look at this Case canoe.

It's one of my favorites, and I think the threading, slanted bolsters and stag work marvelously.

As to being 4 bucks over, I am respectful of our member's budgets, but it is really not much today. I suspect that Mr. Spark would allow this small bump if this is the knife the members choose.

Thanks Bugdoc Bugdoc those 301s are kinda special to me. I got the 1966 from a wonderful member here and I picked up the white bone because it was made the year my grandson was born.
Regarding my last post, I may not have explained myself well. The photo I presented was intended to show that what may look good on one knife may not necessarily be needed to make another look good. Your Case looks great as is and may help me to clarify my thoughts. I like the threaded bolsters on a Canoe but I don't need them on... let's say... a Churchill in order to like it. Each is just right the way they are. Of course, beauty is in the beholder's eye and sometimes voted on with the wallet. While I prefer the smooth, count me in either way... 'cuz it's gonna be great!!!
Have a great weekend all. :)

@Spark might have been firmer on that due to complaints about it going over $100 in a prior year but we can only speculate to his reasoning and this is his house with his rules. I suspect there is a reasonable amount of flex to a statement such as the $100 limit and since the choice is being driven by the potential buyers and is stated upfront with sub $100 options on the table I think there is no reason to fault skblades skblades for this going over should it go over.

Well, I want to see what everyone wants. I think 104 is still within the range of acceptability for a stand alone knife and no extras. These polls are fascinating, to watch the collective psyche move the ball as it were. I'm happy to see the group stay away from the high price for the sake of the group. Also, you know this group would have asked for the pricing on that high end even if it wasn't possible.:D

I would tend to agree with this reasoning!

EDIT: Though I would touch base with him to see if it's acceptable.

Have you seen this person’s other comments in this thread? Nothing but sarcasm and snide remarks, even mentioning that he may get himself banned because of it.
That's not my goal. However, the price will obviously come in within Spark's limits with the right choice of options including shipping. Always gotta stretch things beyond limits. Every time. I didn't vote. All are invited to comment. Snide remarks, rather truth... Sorry

Finally caught up on this thread. Hard to stay on top of this while traveling with slow rural Alaskan internets.

I am leaving my vote on the grooved with box (even though I really don't care much about the box). SK will be counting all the grooved and smooth totals together to see which wins, and smooth is looking like the clear aggregate winner.

This might be the second poll of this process that does not go my way, but I really don't mind. I really want the grooves, but in all honesty, I might get two of the smooth but almost certainly only one of the grooved. So I am in the position where I might actually be able to get two knives if I don't get the exact knife I want!

This is going to be an exceptional knife. I am really excited about it.

So if you didn't vote, and have no intention on buying one, then why all the disdain towards the process? Seems to be as fair as possible for as many people who want it their way.

Based on jakemex jakemex last post he certainly begining to look like he is trolling the annual BF knife thread maybe he lost an early vote. Maybe lost the GEC vs Buck and a GEC fanboy will have none of this Buck nonsense? It is fine to contribute to the thread even if not voting due to finances or configuration or some other reason but the highlights I have seen aren't contributing they smell of anger or disgust that I frankly find no justification for.
