Beautiful set you've got there @redsparrow, but not truly representative of our knife. Take a look at this Case canoe.

It's one of my favorites, and I think the threading, slanted bolsters and stag work marvelously.

As to being 4 bucks over, I am respectful of our member's budgets, but it is really not much today. I suspect that Mr. Spark would allow this small bump if this is the knife the members choose.

That's a good example of polished stag. Still wish polished would of been listed as a third option for the covers :(.

I've reconsidered my earlier stance on the purchase of this knife. I might still do it; but it will likely be a spur of the moment decision. (Having recognized how many times I've ended up on the wrong side of the polls, it's difficult for me to consider this "the knife I want". I still "want it for what it is"; but, having effectively broken myself out of the knife buying habit, I'm not sure that's enough.)
I'm sure I'll regret whichever decision I make, albeit briefly.

Voting from a Canadian standpoint, international shipping, exchange rate and all puts a grooved bolster knife at the $160 dollar mark. +- 5% of course.

I voted for the most inexpensive option. While it is still expensive compared what I usually spend on knives, it is much less expensive than some of the more premium options.

The stag will stand alone well and I fear grooved bolsters will make for a busy knife. Certainly not worth the ~28 percent jump in price.

Don't be to hard on yourself, it will be an exceptional knife, a BladeForum knife with the stamp. It will be unique having two CMP154, full flat ground blades with long pulls. Knobby elk scales, nickle silver bolsters maybe grooved, maybe not. Not something to regret if gotten, only if missed. Be good to yourself!:D Preston

Yes, it's going to be a VERY worthwhile knife.

Even if it should've had Ram's Horn scales  but my friend Al's scaremongering about mythical crapit beetles torpedoed that :D:D

Looks like you're going to be penny-pinching and make another foolish decision about not having grooves, what squares:rolleyes: penny wise pound foolish...but the Groove Crew could still pull it off yet!

Despite all this...think on what's in the offing: new firm making the Forum Knife, all stainless, very decent blade steel, interesting blade combo, Longpulls, American Elk scales (a first) BF tang-stamp and all for between c.80-104 USD? Fantastic:thumbsup:

Not only this, but it's been a gasser (no relation to Cell or flatulence) to have these polls, to bicker and banter and to see what emerges.:D Mind you, it says this is the FINAL SAY, let's respect that....

I hear meako is arranging both anger management classes and personal counselling for those vulnerable to psychological stress and affront when the polls really do close;):D There could be big demand....

Buy one, and if you decide you definitely don't like it, you could give it to someone on the forum who wanted one but could not afford one.

This knife will be such a bargain that I literally can't envision a scenario where you couldn't get your money back if you decided it wasn't for you. If there is one thing I've found out after 5+ decades of knife usage, it's that you never know how a knife will suit you until you have it in hand and use it.

Nothing truer ever posted!!! I concur!!:D John

Groovy baby, groovy!
Ps The knife in the picture below was built by Schrade Walden in 1966 - current bolsters, blades, grooves etc. may look different. OH

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this whole 2018 BF knife process has produced the least amount of bickering and complaining that I can remember for the last few years. I really enjoyed the way SKBlades handled everything, and kept everyone up to date every step of the way.

SKBlades has been a prince for a fact. Thank you sir. ...oh....and grooves.....

I changed my vote to no groove. Even though I think $104 is a fine price I recognize I'm probably going to want two and wouldn't mind saving $40.

I guess I didn't realize the $100 limit was hard and fast; I should pay more attention. I did vote for the least expensive option because the knife itself is what really matters and I also understand being on a tight budget. I will buy at least one and probably two (if allowed - one to use and one to collect), no matter the final version/combo.

I do think redsparrow makes an excellent point about the plain vs grooved bolsters in this post:
"I think the elk will stand out on it's own... It (grooves) makes a boring cover like delrin stand out, but I don't think this knife needs that." JD Bear

Embellishments often are best when considered and applied on a case by case basis.
Both of these look just right (even though different) and I for one would not change either of them.

I could... but I probably wouldn't.
I'd be more likely to either put it away & hope I change my mind about it in the future, or - if I really dislike it (unlikely as that seems) and choose to give it away - the recipient would likely be a friend.
