Just picked up on the exchange. Image is from seller. It’s Stag, not Elk. The bolsters are grooved, but not slanted. To my tired old eyes, it beautiful and not too busy. All the snarky jokes from others, aside, grooved bolsters add an additional touch of class.

When I have one of my rare, favorite treats, a chocolate malt with vanilla ice cream, This one place adds whipped cream and a sugar cookie. The malt didn’t need it, but that made it feel complete and special. I look forward to my 301 with the apparently winning, non-grooved bolsters.

Get only 1 knife and let 3 additional people enjoy a knife as well.
^^^This. I really hope when it's time to order these we can make up a list or something to ensure everyone that wants one gets one before people order multiples. I understand some people might want a second one to keep pristine but I also know someone is going to try and flip these for a profit, and that's just really messed up when it comes to the BF community knives.

Oh and Grooved :D

From what was said in one of the earlier polls, the 250 minimum order is not the maximum order as well.
Even if someone bought 125 of them to "flip", it would not cut down on the number available for others to order. :)

Different strokes. That knife is way too busy for me. I'd lose the swedge and the shield, too. And that stamped number on the bolster doesn't work for me. I do have to say that I like that style of groove. They are classy, on a plainer knife.

If there was going to be a shield on this knife, grooves would probably make it too busy.

But since there aren't going to be shields, the grooves would make for simple and classy embellishment.

I’m not a flipper, but they don’t bother me. No one is twisting anyone’s arm to buy from them.
For fun, check out what a couple of sellers on the bay are asking for the recently made Ancients. Will they sell? If they do, then the market just established their value.

Normally I'd agree, but since the Forum Knife is put together by members volunteering their time for no profit, I find flipping them unseemly.

Seems to me that BladeForums is like a club. The Forum knife should be for "members only." I consider myself a capitalist, but the only Flipper I like is a (deceased) dolphin.

With the poll being so very close, would it be possible to make one half of the batch with grooved bolsters and the other half smooth ? I know it's more housekeeping making/ordering/shipping/processing wise, but such an even split right now?

Obviously, skblades skblades will have the definitive word on this, but I think that this option could potentially drive the price of the grooved bolsters knife up even higher. If we use the base number of 250 minimum orders and make half of them grooved and the other half non-grooved, the cost of the tooling for the grooved bolsters would be divided up between 125+/- instead of the total number. I would imagine that the price listed in the poll would rise quite a bit if that was the case.

Just a thought.

The split option was discussed when there was a question about doing half knobby elk and half smooth. I believe the consensus was that there would have to be a minimum of 250 of each made, so at least 500 knives total. I’m sure it would be the same for the bolsters.

Understood, any kind of deviation can cause heartburn, on the knobby/smooth though it was a land slide decision, where right now this is split by 2 votes, so close, of course I am bias for the grooves as it just isn't something you see on a lot of folders these days, but hopefully 3 more people will click and carry the day for grooves :)
