It is a very nice slip, but not needed.

My experience is that I constantly drop my knife when it falls out of a slip to the ground, i am much better with a folder loose in my pocket, until I get holes in my pocket.

Grooves or no grooves, this knife is going to be a classic and durable everyday carry. It is very evenly divided between groovers and stuck-in-the mudders (as anti-groovers are commonly called).

I think Buck might also come in at the low end of the pricing for this forum knife just to really knock your socks off and fill our cups overflowing with good will.

I like that slip, does Buck normally add those with certain knives? I have only ever seen the belt pouch.

Also, we are very close to 250 but only if everyone voting buys one knife regardless of the great groove debate.

It is the prisoners dilemma.........

I like the idea of grooved bolsters, unique and harkens back to the first Buck 301. No need for a slip or fancy box. I'm voting for grooved bolsters and plain cardboard box and let the chips fall where they may. I good for at least two, maybe three. Preston

Not wild about the slip. Nothing to make it special to this knife, that I can see anyway. One of CKs nice slips would do as well.

Still like the box. It would make a nice keepsake, but as I said earlier, maybe it could be an optional add on at point of purchase.

Wow, that's a big bump for grooves. Would love the leather, but not a deal breaker. The box doesn't appeal to me. If the knife gets displayed, box would get stored. And if used, the leather would be appreciated. But I could always make my own slip. As already stated, leather is always easy to find.

Just changed my vote to non grooved and box from non grooved box and slip.

Of course you want those grooves, they want you:D You need them in your knife life:cool:

Whatever the outcome of this poll, I'll abide by it but I am beginning to suffer from Pollitis... Enough is enough you know what I mean...;)

Saying that the cost of the additional add-ons has pushed the knife out of my budget is not the same as saying "If I don't get my way, I'm not buying."

A slip might be nice, but I changed my vote to enable the greatest number of members to buy this knife. I also think that grooves would look too busy on slanted bolsters and knobby elk. Smooth covers and straight bolsters would benefit from the extra accent, but as it is now, it's gilding the lily.

Its like when a third party runs for prez!

The way this is shaking out, one could argue that the cards were stacked against plain bolsters via spitting the votes between leather slip and no leather slip. The Same option not being available to the grooved bolster crowd, stacks more votes in one camp vs splitting them between two minor differentiated options...just an observation on my part...

Very good point about wants vs budget.

I changed my vote, I was probably going to anyway but r8shell pushed me over the edge. Not everyone on the forum has the money or the foolishness to spend hundreds of dollars on a knife. I think it’s great that it’s a buck knife, and seems like a decent one so far. I’m in no matter what, but there’s folks on here that the extra 20$ could be a meal or two for, and I for one would feel like garbage if people were cut out of getting a forum knife for a few lines on the bolsters. Also, if all four of the first options are not counted as votes for no groves I call shenanigans. Hey, who put this soap box here?

I like the grooved bolster but not sure how it would look with the elk really plus going north of $100 is a little off putting along with the fact the pouch/slip is a nice add on and the perfect carry slip for this knife so something I really want.
