Woodrow F Call Woodrow F Call

I do not remember ever telling you what you can or cannot post. I would expect the same from you. To quote the actual Captain Call, “I hate rude behavior in a man.”

Right, after getting caught up this morning and noticing all the people tagging Charlie, I felt it was rude for us to continue to do so.

You may feel that my post was directed solely at you, but in truth it is for all of us. He'll read all of this and respond when ready.

Please be respectful.

I just wanted to chime in to say, count me among the number who are excited about the Buck opportunity, but I absolutely want to wait until we hear from Charlie before any more momentum gets built up.

I really have appreciated Charlie's work on all of the forum knives that I have been a part of. I don't know what may or may not happen with the knife this year, but I really want to make sure that we don't get ahead of ourselves and wind up with hurt feelings.

All that said, I am very hopeful we might end up with a special (FFG) Buck this year. I know that most people on this forum really like the GECs and 1095, but 1095 really leaves me cold. I own several GECs now, and I appreciate the craftsmanship, but I really don't like carbon steel myself, and the last two knives haven't really excited me. The Buck stockman option does excite me. especially because of the chance at a full flat grind version. The only reason I don't already have a Buck stockman is because I really don't like the normal grind. And I am very, very excited about the opportunity for a high quality stainless steel. But, then again, maybe GEC would be willing to do a 440C knife. I love 440C, I think it just does not get enough love. And there is a real chance that Charlie might get a proposal out of GEC that would really excite me.

So, I am very excited. And I am excited by the Buck option (and sad that the traditional Manly knife wasn't a real option), but I think it is important to wait until we have heard from everyone concerned.

Oh man, I'm really excited about the prospect of a fancy Buck! I love, and carry Bucks regularly. I would definitely be in for a gussied up Buck if that's what is decided. I favor the 303 over the 301 (more pocket friendly, better snap) but I would be "in" for either, particularly in super steel with a robust handle material like the Micarta with a FFG. I love the bulletproof nature of Buck knives and those attributes would maybe kick the Shuffler out of my pocket... maybe ;)

Hey! I asked Buck, and no they do not make either of those sadly.
Another quick question if I may. The term "Flat Grind" seems to have caught some attention.
Would Buck do a full flat grind, or a flat saber grind?

Flat saber is what is shown on some of the 300 series now, with none being full flat ground.

It is a full flat grind. There is a photo earlier in this thread of one of our Buck 112s with Cocobolo. The grind would be like that. Buck did not offer that variation of full flat grind until we requested it for the 110 and 112 projects in D2.

Fantastic. Thank you. I will be digging up the pic now.
