2019 GEC 92 Eureka Jack

Lol thanks and all that was done using sharpening stones so it took a long time! But I felt it was safer than a grinder

When I saw the jigged elderberry covers initially they looked killer but the overall package didn’t speak to me the same way so I’ve held off on buying a #92. These camel bone though...tumescent goldenrod.
I have to agree with you. I don't know if I will have any say in the Camel Bone that I finally receive but I really am excited about the many color variations in each knife alone. I'm hoping to get one with a lot of "personality".

It's been a while since I've owned a GEC and this one is tempting me, I had one of their Eureka models a few years ago, should have kept her, I ground down the spear point into a clip point;

Nice folders guys!

Fine workmanship and a really outstanding knife. I like clip blades and this one is really nice. Sorry that it's not in my collection. I'll have a stag coming soon enough but it won't have a shield.

My micarta Eureka arrived while I was off gallavanting on the motorcycle in Arkansas.... here's my brace of 92's... I think I'm going to really like the micarta. Like others have noted, it has a slight "grippiness" to the scales, which makes it feel really good in hand. It should be the workhorse of this run of knives.... very nicely done.

I don't want to be the downer for the 92 love fest but I've had my OD Green for a few days now and am finding that the kick for the secondary blade is kind of sharp and really digs into the inside of my finger as I try to use the knife. It stands quite proud of the kife body. I feel like I may cut myself. I'm not sure this is a keeper for me. I think it would be perfect with one blade but that second blade just makes it uncomfortable to hold. Does anyone else think the secondary is too short for its slot? I wish it was closer to the new 29 in length.

I agree...
The exposed tang of the closed blade and the sharp kick of the open blade do make for an uncomfortable hold on the knife.

Compare that to my more comfortable #66 Jack...

I am just the opposite, the length of the sheepsfoot on the 29 makes it hard to whittle with especially in the detailed cuts. This coping blade is just perfect for my application.

If it were mine I'd just put a small corner break on it with a file or sharpening stone.....

I'd say that the secondary on the 29 doesn't make it any more uncomfortable than any of my other two-blade GEC's. That doesn't mean that it's comfy as a pillow or anything. GEC's doesn't exactly polish those sharp edges at the factory, but it would be easy enough to take care of at home, with a bit of wet/dry paper.

I love the size of the 29's secondary. It really hits the sweet spot in length. Not too short, so as to be too small for the job at hand. But not so long that you lose control during precision cuts.

Got my micarta in last week. I think GEC did an even better job on this one than they did on my elderberry. The coping blade's spine rides very close to the height of the main blade's spine on my micarta, where the coping blade sat very low on my elderberry. Higher looks much nicer.

I really, really like this run. It's just a wonderful pattern, and very well executed by GEC. The blades compliment themselves very well. Not only are they beautiful knives, but really quite useful too. The overall size of the knife and the shape of the blades definitely work for me. Just right. So right in fact, that they've totally stolen the thunder from this year's 77 Barlow run for me. It isn't often that I buy two or even three of any one new pattern anymore, but if I can get my hands on a dark camel bone, I'm totally pulling the trigger.

I think that corner of the closed secondary blade is something that bothers some folks, and doesn't others. Not sure if there's any rhyme or reason to it. I've carried a (proper:)) two blade Eureka Jack quite a bit, and that corner doesn't bother me at all. I know it's there...it ends up just about dead center in the middle pad of my index finger...but it doesn't cause any pain or discomfort. It looks like it should, but it doesn't.

I have been carrying, using, and playing with my #92 in Elderberry for a bit now. The mentioned corner hasn't even been a blip on my radar until I saw it mentioned here. The way that I am naturally inclined to grip my knife, it doesn't cause any bother. That said, I certainly understand that not everyone grips their knife in the same manner and everyone's hands are different.

I can't recall which run it was a little while ago, but I do seem to remember that someone had a similar complaint and they were able to smooth out the sharp corner to their satisfaction.
