There may be an advantage in quality of F & F with the Northfields because they are usually built after the Tidioutes are built and therefore the Skill Level would be up with the Northfields .Hey y'all, I'm looking real closely at this release to be my first GEC - love the looks and size of this slicey little guy. As it's my first GEC (danger danger don't get hooked), I was wondering if there is any major difference between the Northfield line and the Tidioute beside the handle material / badge / branding. I mean to ask if the quality of construction is different, do they have a different level of craftsmanship? I'm looking at the bone Northfield vs micarta Tidioute single blade patterns and trying to make up my mind... Any advice would be very welcome. Thanks!

It's a small blade, but I don't find it difficult to pull. (and I have very weak nails) It's pretty close in size to the secondary pen blade on a Case Peanut, and bigger than the coping blade on GEC's #09 Esquire.Just how small is the secondary blade on the 2 blade version? I’ve got the one blade stag and can’t imagine trying to pull a much smaller blade
Here's a photo of the 2 blade stag. View attachment 1085336
Can I ask how think are those scales? They look really thin.![]()
I spent a long time being repulsed by the templars, but I gotta say... I really like this little guy. I’m not even sorry.

I was in the same frame of mind, like passing a car crash, you know it's wrong to look, but you still look! ....I have a red Templar due in Thursday!Same for me! Mine is still in Wisconsin.

Great photos, Chief!Andrew,
Couple pics of the two you are considering. The bone is classy.

The Tidioutes of this run are more pinchable due to the swedge difference. However, the pull is just right and the fancy / polished Northfield bolsters are sweet.

Don't rule out the stag. Good luck with your decision.

For all the use my knives get I have to agree with you. My problem is the “just in case” scenario. That’s why I shy away from smaller knives or just in case I carry 2 or 3. lol.I've been carrying my Pemberton for the past three weeks. All my worries about it maybe being to small have faded away, and have been replaced by a wondering as to whether all my other knives are maybe too big. I am 100% happy with the knife. While I throw something bigger in the pocket when I leave the house, because of it's size, there's no reason not to carry the Pemberton, too.![]()
I pretty much always carry two knives. A larger one for big jobs like reaching the bottom of the peanut butter jar, and a little bitty one for small delicate work. I feel unprepared only carrying the large blade. What if I get a splinter, or an emergency craft project? For all the use my knives get I have to agree with you.
