2021 GEC 05 Keychain knife

GEC got the stag at a discount because it was so small and couldn't be used on most knives. Mine has been polished virtually smooth leave just a touch of character. I like it and will reconfigure my key and fob (I don't carry much) to accommodate it. I'm sure it will come in handy in a pinch some time in the future.

I wanted the spear, but after I ordered it, I was wondering if the sheep foot would be better on such a small blade. I would have gotten the spear regardless though.

Interesting diversity of stag being shown! Can't wait until the mail lady drops it off!

Not all EU countries are the same....JP get's it easy at 20% here it's 24% of the invoice value and delivery costs, then Finnish Posti charges you a further 3.50€ for allowing you to (eventually) get your parcel 🤬

So, these considerations are important to us European buyers, even gifts get taxed now!

The Keychain knife is interesting, good to have a choice of blades, the idea is nice but it would have to be pretty inexpensive to make it credible. Plus I have to say that most of the Sambar seen so far, is not looking very distinguished at all. Then, 96 USD plus about 20 shipping plus the tax, plus the Posti fee comes to 147 USD / c.125 € for a 2.5" inch novelty type? Not on.

Cripes! I thought we had it bad here with our 9.75% sales tax! I did see the knife for slightly less at the vendor who had a few available, but I agree that is a lot for basically what is a novelty knife.

The stag does look hit or miss, but Old Engineer Old Engineer you got a beauty!!!

takokato takokato I hope you like your stag! It's a slippery slope. Personally, my favorite is super thin and really gnarly.

At least we shall have no regret when reading "CONUS only"! 😆😆😆

I'm with ya' brother. I am priced out of the market now, i finally could have purchased a GEC, because they are normally well and truly gone before i get a chance, time zone difference, but the cost of buying one of these with converting the dollar and shipping, well out of my league now with our falling dollar.. Sadly i had to let it go, and i collect sheepsfoot knives. But reading your post, you really cop it where you don't want too, hip pocket. o_O

I personally would always choose the most gnarled, evenly matched slabs if given the choice, but I feel lucky to have scored one at all at this point. Plus I'm a fan of smooth natural bone so there's that tooView attachment 1603728
I think on the larger knives, the more gnarly the stag, the better. But on smaller knives, I think smoother might be better.

There's nothing wrong with smooth polished stag... in the right curcumstance, I like it myself, but I have to disagree here. Gnarly stag is ALWAYS good! 😀

I didn't pick the keychain knife up, but here's an 06, nicely gnarled and no problems in hand.

The thing that turns me off to this keychain knife is that the blades look like secondary blades to me... pen or coping.

Not trying to disrespect anyone here, just my personal preference.

Thanks, I thought this would be a good way to get my feet wet. From pictures, I’ve always been drawn to the stag with a bit of yellow. We shall see what we see.

Ok then. Someone will probably say this stag is awesome. I was disappointed that the stag didn't match in color or pattern. Also, the proud tip.

I was expecting to see a terrible knife and have been pleasantly surprised . As for the Proud Tip , and from looking at the Nail Nick location , it is probably an easy and quick fix by filing the Kick very carefully and watching what you are doing . It is very easy to over do it .

That’s not bad. From what I’ve seen, the majority of these knives have smooth stag, which I think works well on these small knives. The proud blade is a bit disappointing, but an easy fix.
