$30 knife kicked the Sebenza out of my pocket

I've been using the heck out of this Skyline. So today I took it down, and lubed everything, and cleaned up the G10.

I sharpened her up on the EP and put on a nice working edge. I'm trying to figure out how to rate this damascus in edge retention. I would put it somewhere near 154cm. It seems odd, but it would appear that the Sandvic model holds an edge better.

I may have to spend some more time with my regular Skyline and find out. :D

Dang! Now I have to get one of those to put all my mods on, once they are perfected. Sure is pretty! Wanna trade for a customized regular model?!

The other day I was working(sorta) in the sky box at the Byron Nelson PGA golf tournament in Las Casitas and used my Skyline to cut a portion of prime rib! I was curious with a white collar TX crowd of how it would go over. No one seemed to notice, and as you might expect the tender PR was no match for Kershaw's 14C28! Gotta like the Skyline; what a sweet heart!

*sighs* must... resist... *cries* too late... I ordered skyline... I am such... weakling...

I got one for my friend and then decided not to give it to him. I had to go to another store and get another one to give to him like originally planned. I went to the stores that said no availability known on the website.....and they had one. I had to go to two different stores to get both...totally worth it. I think that he is going to love this knife!

It keeps going until something kicks the Skyline out of my pocket. :D

ok, going against the grain here, but I find the skyline just OK. Nothing wrong with it. For the price, its great! But I am willing to spend more on my EDC tools, and prefer my minigrip or small seb.

For the price, I think I'm hard pressed to find a better folder though. I'll continue to carry it and see if it grows on me. It makes a great 2nd knife, for those times I'm asked for a knife and don't want to whip out something I'd gasp at if it were dropped. The pocket time the skyline's been getting does makes my TI boker subcom jealous.

and that there is the kicker. I had two that I bought when they became available , gave one away and stuck the other one in my drawer , this thread beckoned me to pull it out and rediscover what the Skyline is all about.
It's funny, Kershaw got me into flippers , then I bought a few knives that were not flippers after swearing to myself that I will only buy flippers because of how handy they are , now I'm all addicted to flipper again. The Skyline excels at flipping obviously :P

Loves it ! :)

For those who have both, is the Damascus blade better in any way than the Sandvik?

And how do you handle the tendency of the Damascus to rust?

I cut a lot of tape daily so I am always cleaning my DAM blade. I haven't had any problems with rust yet, but it's a good idea to keep them oiled.

As far as edge retention, I'm leaning towards the Sandvik actually. Add to the fact that's it's more rust resistant, and you have a winner.

Although the DAM Skyline just looks friggin sweet. Thanks again Thomas.
