4.1 thread

I think "Factory 2nds will be available as we come across them" will trump the 15-30 day estimate....

From what I'm reading on the threads you are probably right. I've ended up buying off the secondary markets before while waiting for mine to arrive. I guess we just have to think about not pre-ordering or buying direct from Survive and let others invest their money, than sell them to us with a mark up. They lose access of that money for say 3-12 months, but then sell them for 15-30% mark up on the exchange net shipping costs. I have found myself paying the higher prices on the secondary market because I wanted the knife now, but if at the end of the day I just have to ask myself a few questions. Is the anxiety or stress caused by not receiving my order within a timely manner worth saving that 15-30%? If the answer is yes than we just pay the money and check in every so often to see what's happening. If the answer is no than we are better off buying at the higher prices on the exchanges or eBay.

The problem that Survive! is running into is the demand is far outweighing their supply and ability to produce knives efficiently. What they do send out in my experience, whether they are 1st's or 2nd's are top quality products and once in hand we don't complain. I understand why many are frustrated and are thinking about demanding refunds, but as more and more customers become unhappy and cancel their orders. They should be able to catch up eventually as people fall out of line. Granted if there is a significant demand for refunds all at once it could cause problems financially for the company, if there isn't anyone to fill those spots of lost orders. However, I don't see the demand for the GSO's to completely stop and if there is ever any of them available on hand they will probably be picked up without hesitation. As long as they keep their quality controls for the knives they send to customers. There is no doubt that they are losing loyal customers because of their current backlog and inability to meet their deadlines. If I do have to wait 2-6 months for my F2 GSO 4.7 and F2 GSO 4.1, than end up picking up some off of the secondary market instead. I could always sell them and get my money back on the exchanges or maybe even make a profit for my time of not having my money. Granted my savings account is only paying .2% which is taxable, where any profit I sell a GSO for will be net and tax free. That being said, I'm not a gold member nor have I sold any of my knives, but it's an option should I want to capitalize on the demand for Survive! knives.

Hm, I missed that line on the confirmation. :-/ I thought it was the standard explanation on the product page for what a 2nd is. :( Now even I think it might be starting to smell funny here...

What is to prevent me from canceling my preorder, and ordering a second? Bad policy no matter how you slice it.

Nothing, quite frankly. I have nearly done this with my 2.7 pre-sale a few times.

Factory seconds will have less value on the secondary market

No thank you. I have nothing to add there. My only point was that I have wrestled with the decision to cancel my order and buy a 2nd simultaneously. I've come to the personal conclusion that I didn't want to do that to cause confusion and jerk them around for 10 or 15 bucks.

Fair enough :)
Good decision.

Lookin' good in gold. Love the sign line!

I went on 2nds page 10 minutes before two and noticed that I could put a 4.1 in my cart .this is my third attempt and my third factory 2nd if you check every week it is very easy to purchase a survive knife I don't know why people are not figuring this out! ?

I check all three of the sales pages (firsts, seconds, and limited edition) whenever I think something might be dropping.
Sometimes it is hard to tell where something will be listed.
Edit: Actually, I keep clicking the SK series link, too. Someday I'll find a knife in there!

Oh I had plenty of time to close the deal, it was the "Factory 2nds will be available as we come across them" that stopped me. The wording made it seem that there was an unknown quantity of seconds that were selling, and that caused me to hesitate.

I can see now that was NOT the case as they've since become unavailable. However, I have never seen that wording on a seconds sale page before, and it left me with the impression that this was different than a Monday's sale where there is a known quantity of seconds available for Ellie to list.

I just acquired a like new old spec 4.1, i forgot what an awesome blade it is. Its probably better the wording was off, or i would have spent more money.

I grabbed one recently off the exchange, and got another one in trade, and have been using the heck out of them. They've done a couple bear and one buck so far, and you're right, they're an awesome blade.

Certainly in the secondary market. I imagine a few buyers either have one on order already, or bought a couple seconds.
