4-Max?! USA Made, CPM-20CV, Cold Steel?! This can't be happening!

Some knives have a extra pin you can put through the handle to lock the blade into a fixed knife . Maybe that could be it
Like the Extrema Ratio RAO II?? Wow..it seems like Cold Steel is really on the game to challenge that knife in terms of lock strength, as i dont remember the previous version having this hole..

Demko custom 4max always has this hole. the earlier production version also has this..

Sideways or otherwise, they already tested the Tri-Ad against the Axis Lock, they, we, he, she, me, know which is stronger. That stop screw on the RAO is the most hilarious thing. I call it "Frankenstein's missing neck bolt." The RAO mentions a secure feeling knowing that the screw is in place. I take that to mean without that screw, faith in the actual lock is diminished. Its held on there seperate from the knife by a shock cord, I think. If anything should sever the cord, so severed is your faith in the knife, I guess. And it wouldnt be a challenge but a defending of the title. FYI about the Tri-Ad, the mere fact the blade will snap before the lock fails means the Tri-Ad is infinitely strong. Because its limits will never truly be tested when the blade snaps prior. And its not like CS makes chintzy blades, they're hanging 400-500+ on it. Weight hang porn.

Do the push in bolts on my rifle mean it's a stupid design if it needs them to work better or even at all?
On Grenades I guess we could agree that they would be quite silly if they'd work with the pin inserted. :-o

The rao blade is super thick, thicker than any coldsteel blade I've seen . I doubt they'd break before the pivot or lock.
Why not use the lock for normal stuff and then if needed add a pin for crazy tasks? Why not have that option, nobody needs to use it if they don't want to.
As long as we don't see a Rao destruction with and without pin we can hypothesise a lot about the usefulness. If it's indeed useless it'd be pretty funny marketing. Also why don't they use it on their thinner blades? Maybe because they'd actually break before the lock?

Having to screw it in is bad in my opinion as well. There are surely more elegant and user friendly solutions.

Well, I'll out. I REALLY don't like how they fattened the tip, and as far as I'm concerned, messed up a beautiful blade grind and finish. :thumbdn:

I agree with this. And a hollow grind would be a total dealbreaker for me.

Consider it broken. Yet another hollow ground blade. The original 4 Max image CS gave us looked just like the 4 Max customs by Demko. The blade looked hand ground with visible grind marks. It looked raw and ready to be thrashed on. Now it looks every other production knife. A little fancier given the materials. I can't believe they gave it a stonewash finish. I'm out too. I hate to be this guy, but no one more exited for this thing than me. And I'm out. I was gonna name it Maxine. No politics deterred me here. Just mere over editing and the "fixing" of that which was not broken.

The above was a simulation of a possible future. There is still time...

No interest on this anymore after the final result, cancel my pre- order.

They are going hollow grind because they want it to sharpest with minimal work.

Cold steel should sacrifice a little bit of money for a superior product and start turning heads in the knife community than being brushed off as a gimmick company

"Custom Classics" is the name of this line. Meaning the CS 4Max is supposed to be a production version with a custom feel of the Demko 4Max. This is an entirely different knife. womp womp womp :thumbdn:

Yes this literally can't be happening. They changed the entire knife.

To think if they actually released it in 2015 as advertised it would have looked like

Maxine. As she appeared at multiple knife shows.

If all this wait was to accommodate for these changes than I can stand to wait a lifetime, if you get me.

Either is better than the stonewashed version. I'm sorry to say it, but that blade looks like s==t on that version; terrible tip.:barf:

Guys, do you know that the blade shape is pretty much identical to the Demko AD10? Except for the finish and lack of the cool satin grinds.
