#44 Northwoods barlow.

As Getout87 says, some patterns just speak to me. I like pretty much everything about this knife. The Tom's Choice Barlow was one of my favorite GEC offerings and this feels like an oversized, yet more elegant version of that.

Got mine yesterday, a lighter green/blue camel bone handle that is simply awesome. I must admit that I'm looking at it sitting next to my jigged bone Abilene and reallllllly thinking about ordering another Madison with jigged bone before they run out. :)

I received my Autumn Jigged Bone version today. Looks good. I am no knife collector per se, but this particular knife peaked my interest. This jigged bone version is No. 2. Now what's the big deal about that? Well, this is the very first slip joint that I have purchased different scales on the same knife. So, I think that's kind of significant. Thanks Derrick for commissioning very appealing design.

Got back from picking up this peanut for my buddy for his birthday tomorrow and this big guy was waiting for me in the mailbox.

Peanut and Madison Barlow.

Very pleased with it although there is a lil gap running nearly the length between the spring and liner. Doesn't bother me none. The girlfriend's first impression: "Whoa, that thing is huge! You're going to carry that in public?!"

Received a light ebony yesterday. Just a touch lighter (in weight) than the camel bone. Nice feel, warm even.

Even though I may not use the sheath as much, it is a great way to package and present the knife. Other makers (especially custom makers) could learn a thing or two from Northwoods' packaging.

Where are the blades numbered? Got mine from NSF and said it was number 17.
I dont see it numbered anywhere.
Any insight?

Big Papa, KSF number them like that for the picture so that you see exactly the knife you are purchasing instead of KSF just pulling your order from a box full of that particular pattern. The Autumn jigged bone is a good example of the alternative, often there would be a number listed as available.

If it has a number, normally on the bolster, the description of the knife notes "serialized".

The numbers are our internal designation. It just makes sure the knife is the exact one in the picture.

Hope that helps.

Just want to chime in and congratulate Derrick and Great Eastern Cutlery on another fine looking product. I especially like the Northwoods tang stamp, very subtly done. It's a little big for my needs so I wouldn't carry it, I'll give it a miss, but they look fantastic!

Developing some nice Patina! Had steak the other night--what a great steak knife!

While I'm waiting for mine to arrive, can someone please show some pictures of this next to a GEC #23?

Have been using mine since it touched down in Oz... Greg sure picked me a beauty. The polish finish is so good though that the patina is developing a lot slower than on a lot of my other knives. Thanks again Derrick! You sure know how to get a guy salivating over a bit of steel!!!

Richard :-)
