Hopefully both will be made! The handle forward design should have 1/2 inch “more” cutting edge!Reviewed the Police 4 model again, and I remember it has the just-right-for-Sal's-hand handle design. Which sadly doesn't work for me, and I have eventually parted ways with every knife like that, even after attempts to mod to my preferences. So I know, upon reflection, that I'd pass on the Police on the left. If they made the one on the right (or the 5" blade analog thereof), I'd buy two or more, and it would replace my modded Resiliences as my main EDC folders.

Thanks for the link. This was an interesting thread. I would definitely be interested in a 3.5"+ folder with thinner bladestock, I'm guessing it would perform like a slicier and more neutral Manix. Sounds awesome.Don’t think I ever started a thread or mentioned anything about the potential Chaparral XL. Another larger version of a proven design! I’d most certainly take one of those too! https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?t=98042
Same here. I have been carrying a Police 4 for a month or so, and I like it quite a bit more than I did at first. I'm still looking forward to a Police with a 5" blade (and hopefully G-10 grips).I too was thinking about this today as I held my police 4 lw
If they make one (or both) of the 5 inch Police models ,I’m almost certain it’ll be VG10 first! Such a large blade will most likely be a slow seller because of blade length restrictions in a lot of areas.PLEASE for the love of all things holy! Make this in an upgraded not vg10 steel. A premium model deserves a premium steel (k390!)
The first post in this thread (Quote by Sal) answers these questions.Any word on whether this will be an FRN/full flat ground blade or a stainless/saber ground? I really hope for a saber ground blade....
Wow, that's fantastic news, thanks Sal! I'm really looking forward to this! If we all buy one of each, won't your test be inconclusive?Hi Elevator man, Mouseshadow, Riz,
The model is actually a test to see actual preference for a "Finger-Choil" design, or a "Handle Forward" design.
The plan is to make the two variations as close to the same as possible to remove any variables that might influence the test. We'll be using VG-10 as a standard blade steel. It will be full flat ground. We'll be using G-10 scales for both that will be the same other then the "shape" which is the test.
Whether or not we do more than one run will depend on demand.
