OK it's the next day
I called this morning and it's a go
these bars she said, look like they will be about 9" long by 1.019 if all are that way C@@L
this run of Control shafts are being run right now as I type this. :)
they will call me today to tell me how much I'll have coming

thanks guys
not sure on the price yet I'm going to call in a min they said they would call me today their time is off from mine..some.

IG yes if I have it by then .. I should have it I hope.. :)

I just called them and they have about 200 pounds for me right now :) ..
I know the price of the steel but not the shipping cost yet.
I'll need to see what that will be when they ship it tomorrow..

Hey Dan,
I'd be interested in some as well,, pending info on the price,,,and btw,,any Colorado makers-wanna go in to save shipping?

Thanks Dan,,

jm

I'd like to join up, if there's any left after these guys get theirs, or maybe for the next batch.

OK guys
I just got back in and read a mail from Karen .
NOW I'm running into a predicament here.

shipping to me is the thing
that available 200 pounds just turned into 500 pounds I guess they had a bigger run than they thought..NoW
it's more cost effective at that weigh to ship by truck I think?
problem,, I need to know if I can move that amount or most of it.
I sure don't need 500 lb's of it
if I order say 200 lb's and ship it by U.S. mail it will cost more by cost averaging it out...at that weight trucking is out.. because of the weight to cost comparison.

at the risk of being told I'm selling here
I'll say cost per pound with in bound shipping to me.
do you think this steel is worth the
$2.00 to $2.50 per pound price to you plus shipping to you?

I can't find REG 5160 less than $2.69 per pound and that stuff is not JD control shaft steel. so I think it's a good price..

now I can flat rate it to you by USPS but that flat rate IS limited by the USPS even though the box says regardless of weight on it
see what your postal office says about it?

so where we are at right now.

$2.00 to $2.50 per pound price plus shipping to you..
I won't know for sure the exact shipping cost from them until I tell her OK
on which amount I want sent
and she gets it loaded..but it should be in that range whichever way we go..
I'll post this in the for sale section and you can post there or e-mail me..
ether way I'd like to know if that would be a good price on a steel as this..

ED you said you'dike to have some of this JD5160
I want to put you on top of the list to get some because of your offer to experiment with it.. (your type of steel and you know more about it than the most of us..)

what do you guys say?
I think I'm in for some work here.. :( :)

Are you sure on the lengths of the pieces? If its too short the value goes down. Being round stock also reduces or eliminates the value for stock removal types. It would be great if you could find somebody else to be the middleman who lived close to the source. That would offer a chance to reduce or eliminate one round of shipping costs.

the guys here have spoken on the sizes
2" to 12" is ok for the most of them and this one is meant for the forgers
to fallow ED on this one I think..someone may be interested in forging some of these into billets for the stock grinders...

Dan - count me in for however much you can stuff in a flat-rate box. Maybe two boxes.

Is there anybody closer to the source?

If not, have them freight it to a business with a dock (hopefully someone you know). Then no load fees, just roll it onto your truck and go.

thanks Dan
I think they told me something like a max of 35 lb's in the flat rate box I'll check again in the morning.
if I stuff it full I'll bet it would take 70 pounds easy..

I've gotten so far into this now that I don't want to jeopardize being able to get this, I have a rapor going with Karen
BTW she is the owner of the company ..
I had thought at first she was a rep for the company..
it was her husband that just pasted away. so I don't want to rock the boat.
I know it sounds like I'm hogging this..and maybe in part I am :( I hate to let go of something I got so much work into..
this was a pain in the butt to find..
but for now I have this in motion ..without being to much of a pain in her side..she says I'm not anyway.. :)

I asked her by return e-mail tonight..
if it does go by Truck if she would ship it in two boxes on one pallet
I can dump two 250 lb boxes off the truck
I'm fairly well know by land and air trucking because of the shipping of
skidder cable and logging supplies in the past years
as a mater of fact the walrus tusk I got
before the last one was from the driver of the truck :D
