A 2016 Forum Knife. An apology, and The Crossroads!

Oh man its good to see that knife again Jack Sir, I have to say - one of the most enjoyable knives I have owned - my BIGGEST mistake was not buying more when I had the chance.

It's a really sweet knife Duncan, great design, great steel, great snap, and a beautiful knife too I think. I've carried it over many miles and it's a very treasured gift my friend :)

To go along with that white owl Spear maybe a matchsticks pull would look good? I wouldn't mind pinched and single lined bolsters or rat tail treatment. I also think tip bolsters would go really well. If we go wood, flattening the side slabs like the presidential just makes it disappear in the pocket :)

Thank you Jack - did it have a model name or number? You know, in case some knife nut wanted to search for a twin to yours.....:D

Duncan is probably a better source of info than, and my guess is that they're not so common, hence his comment above. Some of the contemporary European manufacturers, such as Otter, make a version, but I doubt the quality is as good. I'll try and find you a link Sam

Edit - Hubertus do a version in stainless.

Someone else mentioned the matchstriker pull and that would look awesome on this setup! Tipped bolsters would be really nice looking as well but probably only with wood scales, not sure how they'd look if we all chose peach seed jig bone or something similar.

Jack, that looks great

Jake, I have seen a Robson pen knife from Jeff if I am remembering correctly that had some nice bone with tip bolsters. It is a looker for sure. I am good with wood or bone myself. Maybe even just the white bone with or without a jigging pattern? Be interesting to watch them all age and color differently from member to member. While we are wishing, would be pretty sweet in an all steel construction or at least steel bolsters with brass liners ;)

That's a cool idea. Some smooth oiled bone or white bone would allow everyone's knife to look different from use. I had an oiled bone Fremont and I surprised how quickly it starts to take character from the oils in your skin. It would make for a nice picture thread for sure!

Here's a similar knife that GEC built on the 53 frame. Not many were made, but it is a fine knife and quite slim, albeit a little large for most.

Notice the 'catch bit' in the second photo that spaces the secondary blade. Last year's forum knife had double catch bits (so the blades could be ground from thinner stock).

Queen's Equal End Harness J - one of Charlie's earlier editions. Nice shape Spear to this one and I like to see light bone on a knife. Some people have talked about Smooth Bone but I would've thought an HJ would usually be jigged for better grip? There could be smooth bone ones too I'm sure.

I tend to agree with Jack about the proposal: it's not one that sparks my interest really. Possibly if it were a smaller pocket friendly size like on the White Owl frame, but then, I would prefer it to have another blade rather than a tool. However, it will be a very decent quality item and it's good to see so much enthusiasm voiced for it.

Let's get going...:cool::D:D

An equal end harness jack sounds really nice. I really love that one Jack posted though, with the awl on the outside. Any possibility to do something like that?

Wow did I miss a lot!! Okay, so I knew the PunchNut/Gunpunch was a pipe dream of mine, but this one has a punch, so I'm in!!

We have not had a red forum knife, why not this one?!? It's a good traditional colour that happens to be my favourite. I'd be happy with a jigged micarta handle, strong clip blade with match striker or regular long pulls. I would love a double scalloped punch, but have not tried the one mentioned so why not! I've never been too enthralled with the majority of Charlie's SFO's, and the ones I would have liked were gone long before I found out about them. This one is just different enough that it catches my eye!
Thinly threaded pinched bolsters would be my choice.

Man did I miss a lot in a couple of days!!
