What about the pack of dogs feeding on Mick in this thread. Double standards??
You are going to have to prove that because I see the Strider supporters FAR outweighing the detractors. I also don't see the supporters being banned out of hand, ridiculed for their support or any other "double standards" that have been seen elsewhere.

If this thread was about a BF knife maker that is a regular around here it would of already been locked!
Again, you'll need to prove that, because I call bullshit. We tend to leave threads open and let the information speak for itself.

So you don't see a feeding frenzy against Strider knives? I agree the thread drifted towards the end here but the beginning wad definitely a BF pile on. I call BS because if you don't see that then you are blind.

People defend an attack and they are called dogs but the attackers are righteous?

If you don't see that in some way then it is because you choose not to.

Look at the threads people have started complaining about the quality of a knife made by makers and manufacturers that are regulars around here. You will find plenty of them, and you will find they have not been locked.

It happens all the time. Sometimes there's a heated discussion, but a thread like this one doesn't come along every day....

NV, Great work

Its nice that the Rantics of all the argumentative folks here are filtered out by my ignore list. of course, half or more of those individuals are now banned- (no real suprise there)

And Life goes on. . .

I have been following this thread from the beginning , and too sum it up for Myself , This is not the place for me and I would respectfully ask a moderator or administrator here to discontinue my admittance here. Thank you very much Pete

Why don't you just log-out without the fanfare.

In the interests of fact-checking, I give you the "early thread:

Of the first 80 posts.

6 were by the OP, including those revealing that he likes Strider products generally and has had good previous experiences and the immortal "too lazy" comment.

3 posted, in SMW or in effect, hahahaha. Make what you will of that.

26 posts said, in substance, that the individual knife was not worth the$$ due to its condition and should be returnable.

16 expressed confidence that Srider would make it right.
1 expressed confidence in Strider Knives as a response
2 "Flaws give character"/ Strider does not promise pretty
1 said it's a fuke
1 expressed love for his Strider knife
2 said QC at Strider was fine (73,78)

2 said they were now worried about Strider QC.
1 said he did not like Strider knives.
2 said there are better values than Strider knives
3 questioned Strider QC generally

1 edited his post to "zzzzzzzzz"
Can't catagorize 6 (41,44,45,48,71,72)

1 explicit attack on Strider supporters in general (19).
2 posted anticipation of attacks by Strider supporters, which may amount to the same as 19 - or not.

1 expressed confidence that SA would take care of the situation.

3 DekDeks' DekDek first appeared in Post 30. It seems fair to classify his post as also implicitly questioning Strider QC generally. He twice relates alleged problems with two folding knives seen in Thailand. Says he saw two Striders fixed blades that "looked fine." (77)

2 said (Posts 32, 53) that the OP should have gone to Strider rather than start the thread.
3 defended starting the thread (36,40,76)

2 questioned why SA sold the knife as is.
1 questioned why Strider would have sold the klnife as is.

1 [To Mick] "your attitude sucks" (77 DekDek)

2 keep us informed

2 insufficient basis to form opinion on QC based on one sample (51,58)
2 cosmetic problems only (51, 56)

1 a knife is worth what you think it's worth

2 asked neutral questions
4 simply gave information that does not seem to be controversial/was not challenged

First suggestion that this was a gift knife appears in Post 69

73 - MS first post: QC not faulty especially because not purchased directly.
Offers to fix problems or OP can "talk smack" about Strider gear.

2 negative reactions to Post 73 (Posts 77, 79), including "do you save junk for dealers."

This far, relatively civilized. Few fighting words. One "smack." One "sucks" One "junk."

When I asked if Buck should know about this thread...

"Oh yeah, your later post about running to the teacher(Buck Knives) and telling on him was real sweet, but it figures!!"

"Sounds to me like you are hell bent to hurt Strider."

So, is it fair to say that both of you guys believe that Buck Knives would NOT approve of Mick Strider's remarks and the manner in which he handled the situation?

No I don't think it fair to say, that we both think that Buck would indeed Not approve of what has taken place. I stated what I did because you were acting like a school boy wanting to run to the teacher. If I had to guess, I would think that Buck has already heard about this. But you are more than welcome to check with them. Like Tony and I both said, you seem to have some type of agneda here. So do whatever floats your boat. :barf:

I am pretty sure if Strider/Buck's are selling good then Buck could give a rip what Mick Strider says. I think they are probably selling pretty good.

The Pink Tutu rides again. Dr. Walt Welch still has an effect on the forums even after his untimely death. The tutu was a forums in joke from the 98-2000 era IIRC.

Thomas Linton: Interesting "fact" checking - care to post the stats for the rest of the thread instead of cherry picking? Mick comes in at #73, is asked repeatedly for more information, and at #89 the OP states he didn't know the knife wasn't from an authorized dealer, which pretty much changes the entire direction of the thread. It's one thing for an authorized dealer to be selling products with defects. It's another for a dealer to be reselling "gifted" knives that weren't suppossed to be sold in the first place.

Even until post #116 where Mick apologized, people are still defending Strider. It's not a one sided bashfest or dogpile at all - though Mick did give people ammo with his responses.

Look, there's no friendship between Strider and BFC. I'm on record for saying Mick & co handle themselves extremely poorly in my opinion; that's simply based on the way they've acted here over the years.

That said, I have no problem taking him at his word when he states this was a gifted knife simply because these flaws are obvious, the knife is marked as custom with M.STRIDER and because I've given thousands of dollars in gear away to troops myself. The fact that he doesn't think before he types does not change the nature of the knife and it's status - it's far more plausible to me that it's a gift than something that was sold simply because his actual for sale custom pieces tend to be highly detailed - look at the Nightmare and similar pieces. Did he get pissed? You bet. To give credit where it's due, he also came back and apologized.

Mick told the customer to return the knife to Strider and he'd make it right. I cannot fault the OP for wanting opinions on it - but we've always stressed that you should make every effort on your part to get things resolved before posting negatives on deals. I also cannot fault people for making initial judgements on what they saw in the photos without additional information. But the offer was made and acted on.

It's been suggested that Strider & Co invest in a stamp that says "not for resale" or the like - that seems like common sense. Even dremmeling SAMPLE on the blade would alleviate this from happening again and would certainly put a stop to selling of "gifted" knives.

Based on the end result of the thread, I think this has been a "net positive" for Strider & Co & the OP. The OP is getting his knife taken care of. It's been reaffirmed that the knife isn't indicative of typical production offerings because it's not a production offering. It's been emphasized that a bunch of Joe's get free stuff. People who like Strider still do. People who don't, don't. In the meantime, it's Day's of our Knives.

Geeezz. "Cherry picking." That woudl be selecting certain posts. I just started at the begining [OK place to start] and ran out of time before I had to beat feet to a meeting thirty miles away. (I was late as it was.)

The thesis was that Mick had to jump in to "defend" himself and his company because dogpiling was going on. One can draw one's own conclusions.

Hmmmm. Let's see. Where were we?

OK, up to 80.
