just for the heck of it i called the number jared posted. he gave out a bogus number:eek: it was to a woman named joanie:rolleyes:. that says a lot right there about his nopology he posted. i think the op is one of his flunkies trying to be funny :thumbdn:
 
Richard, I think she was messing with you, too. According to an on-line article from Guns Magazine July 2007, they list the same number...

Well, you apparently haven't read Dave's thread. Besides, even if he had said something not so nice and didn't tell us about it, IT DOESN'T MATTER, AS HE WAS THE CUSTOMER!

Why then, since you've taken it upon yourself to answer for Jared West, don't we know the other side, smart guy? Jared West has posted here twice, has had the opportunity to give the other side that YOU are bringing up, but, from what I can see, HE has chosen not to address that. Since you're still playing puppet, despite requests from other members that you stop, why don't YOU answer YOUR own questions?;)

I questioned the blade material and handle material because of differing descriptions on various sites selling his knives, including his own. I didn't get nasty nor call him names. I mean, c'mon, its a knife. It's not religion, politics or about your mother. M4B, you can view all the links in the post above for context.

I'm not sure what else to provide you with to satisfy your curiosity.

Like I said a few pages back, a mature man would chill on the marketing, forget all those Internet business seminars, and just Man Up.. "look, sorry, I was a shmuck, the blade steel is X, " and be done with that.

Some people are just twice as smart, by half.

On a technical note, I am curious, from a business point of view (not customer service POV) how a new-ish company with a 27 year old owner manages to produce a BG-42 blade for $29-39 (roughly, see my links above) when experienced guys like SOG and Spyderco, to name a couple, have produced BG-42 in the past, but not at that price point. I would think both Spydie and SOG have at least the developed connections, etc, to be the most competitive, not to mention both having a decades-old track record of quality products and customer service.

It is a curiosity, for me, anyway.
 
The steel issue was the main reason I wanted Mr. West to put some of his blades in the hands of members here. Not to keep but to test and post the results. I'd be very surprised if experienced knife users were as pleased with their premium steels as they are the "same" from other knife manufacturers.

Thats pretty funny. I called him this morning. Got right through. I understand that a lot of you are pissed at JW and Mantis knives because of the Spam that occurred. He has tried, Twice in this thread to apologize. I really hope that all of you that are throwing the negative comments(Other than Diamdave whom this was more personal) are perfect and dont live in glass houses. Jared made a mistake. He admitted it, and has tried to apologize. Now several of you are still trying to drag him through the mud. Why??? It was a mistake, It is in the past. Time to move on. Many of you were talking as if all the Militia were Teen aged people who needed Mommy and Daddies permission to have a Knife. I am one of the Original Mantis Militia members. I am almost 42 years old. I served in the US Navy for 20 years on Submarines, and have also been a Police Officer(See thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=563791). Many of you have reverted to name calling just like Teen agers your selves.
Perhaps it is time to let this thread die, move on and continue showing respect for those here in our knife community. So many of you dont like Mantis knives, and will not own any of them. Thats really alright. There are knives that I wont own for my own personal reasons. I have been a Lurker here more often than not, but I was a member long before many of you heard of Mantis knives. I am also a member in several other forums with a pretty high post count . I like to come here to BF because of its size, and volume of people involved. It is a great resource to draw knowledge and experience, and seems to be one of the Larger Forums. With that said, When there are that many people in a forum, and dog piling is allowed, You tend to see the folks that cant draw opinions of there own, they seem to wait for a Mod, or someone with a high thread count to make a statement, then jump on there shirt tails acting as if what they said was Gospel. You know who they are. I cant believe the disrespect that was shown to Other people here in this forum in this knife community. I hope that this thread is closed and Locked, so that the temptation to disrespect others is not an issue. Honestly, if something didnt affect you personally, you shouldnt have posted about it, (IE Diamdave) that is between Dave, and Jared alone.

Get used to the disrespect....there are a LOT of tools on BladeForums....sometimes they go from dull to sharp, but not many. As far as shutting up, and only saying nice things,(your implication) that is NOT how BladeForums works.

Reasonable way to apologize, Jared, I continue to wish you luck in your future endeavors.

Since some people here seem to think I am not qualified to have an opinion, or answer questions, this will be my last post on this thread. I just have a few things to say, and I am done with it. First of all, I think that the majority of us know who is and is not, acting like teenagers. Second, the SPAM thing is just being taken to far. It was never intended to be spam, and it was apologized for, twice. The opinions of the Mantis knife owners, were not biased. They were not only to try to win a knife, the contest has been over for more than two weeks. If you do not believe that we are truely very happy with our knife purchases, try checking Mr. West's feedback on ebay, for selling only Mantis knives. 100% positive, it speaks for it's self. Over 300 ebay customers, and not a single one left a negative or neutral feedback. From what I have read here, and everywhere else, there has been only one unsatified customer, and he never even went so far as to get the knife---diamdave. So, to all of the people here that have been decent and respectful, thank you, it has been a pleasure hearing your opinions. To all the rest, you know who you are---you are entitled to your own opinions, but do you really have to be so damn disrespectful?? Does spam really make you that mad? What do you do about the spam that you get in your email everday? Probably just delete it, that's what I do. I don't let the little things ruin my day, and get me all pissed off like you guys. Maybe you need to just lighten up a bit. I certainly wouldn't talk to a perfect stranger the way you guys do, and yet you bitch and complain about Mr. West calling someone a loser, you are no better than him. Even though you may think you are..... you're NOT. I'm outta here, peace, to the ones who deserve it.

I thought that Ebay did not allow negative feedback any longer. So pretty much any recent seller will have a 100%.

I did, then once again after you posted the above comment. Most of this thread has been a pissing match involving you and made4blade. Other than you reassuring us that was in fact Jared West, there really is no proof that was him.

Im just saying anyone could have posted those comments under the name Jared West. He wouldnt want to post this on the Mantis website becuase that would only do more damage and inform more people of this whole ordeal.
