Ah-oooooh! The Coyotes are here!

Double mail day! I'm trying to get an African Blackwood thing going... Still hunting for that Viper!

I think I'm going to enjoy using the Coyote. It's not very hard to open - I like that. The size is perfect for everyday stuff, opening mail/boxes and so on.

Beautiful! I have an African Blackwood on order to join a couple of CRKs with AB inlays (along with a jigged bone Coyote). This is the seller's picture:

Travman, I know what the trap of chasing the latest super steel is. I haven't really fallen into it, I just appreciate hard tough steel. I don't have much money, so a knife really has to hit all the points to make me bite. Though the Coyote sure is appealing, as a tool, it's on a par with a $10 Opinel. Sure came close to pulling the trigger though...

I understand. I bought a Northwoods Barlow a few months ago because I wanted a newer steel instead of one of the "old-fashioned" steels. It was the CPM 154 that put me over the edge and got me to buy it.

I've really enjoyed owning a small Insigno for the past three years, but sold it a week or so ago; I'm planning on moving to England by the end of the year, and they're a bit twitchy about locking knives - hence my decision to revisit smaller traditional designs.

I may just order another of these Coyotes as a spare - it's really more than enough knife for anything I use one for!

I totally agree. I felt the same way about a #25, as well. I just started carrying pocket knives again - Eagle Scouts was the last - on 9/15.

Just got this today, not the best picture but you get the idea.

I find the Case Sod Buster Jr to be almost perfect sized, will have to try this one for a few weeks to see if it's useful as a true EDC or if it will turn into a Church-Carry knife.

BTW, the only flaw I can find has been previously documented, it's the backspring cut at an angle where it almost meets the knife tip. Otherwise almost jewelry like.

A little more detail.

Edited to add: Just realized the picture above is misleading, there are no gaps at all around the shield, there is not even a line between it and the micarta when examined with a handheld loupe.

Tsar Grand Yote yours. My long wait for the Atlantic crossing of the Blackwood is underway, exciting but exhausting too:rolleyes: Takes longer in Customs sometimes than it does to travel the seas.... but, sometimes it's very quick the whole thing. Once only took three days from US to my door:D:D but that's a Bluemoon.

Regards, Will

Well the plan had been to wait for the Beagles, but Derrick just put his brown camel bones for sale up on KSF and literally seconds ago, and I decided to take my pick of the litter in case the beagles didnt have the PPP etch. I can always decide what to do later. Plus, I got to calm the knife buying urge for a bit!

Thanks. Yep, the brown camel bone SFO coyotes are online. The look nice. Like a smooth version of the brown jigged model. I'm not a small knife guy but this model is very nice. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I like it in hand and how nice the wharncliff blade suits the design.

A solid choice. The "PPP" and pin are a plus to KSF's SFO, IMO. I cannot wait to get mine. The Beagles will have the "PPP" etch as well. While still an #18 they'll be the first of the two blade #18s, so they'll get the "PPP" and pin as well.

No PPP on the Beagles as they will be the second run of the 18 pattern, hence not the premier. Blade configuration has nothing to do with it.

Sigh. You're a terrible influence on me, Jeff.

Coyote #2 (this one in brown camel bone) is now on the way... :o

Sigh, you guys...just when I think I'm done, you pull me back in.

We have similar tastes - for me I was deciding between the one I got and that one!

Probably not much of a surprise, the photo you posted had me slavishly poring over the remaining exampleslooking for "the one". The one I picked has pretty well-matched handles and I actually prefer those spots of light dye and "variation" (I'm a sucker for appaloosa and the old Case reds where like 1/3rd of the handle would be almost completely undyed). Judging from the KSF availability, including yours, I think it would have been down to those two for me as well. :D

This also turns my osage 'yote into a user, so you'll be seeing a lot of it on Wooden Wednesdays. :p

It's the worst, isn't it? :o

"One of us! One of us!" :D

Okay, now I'm REALLY on hiatus until the #98s are out. Swear. Pinky swear! Double dog diamond swear!!

Gosh, I have a second incoming too. I try really hard to not buy duplicates of things, but I saw another blackwood in stock and I'm enjoying this one a lot more than I expected to. It's such a comfortable little thing to use, and the spring is just right...

It's not my fault, I fought it all day. It's your fault for showing me all your coyotes.

I ran into a couple extra bucks today, soooo... I got an Osage Coyote on the way. Can't wait to get it and play with it. I really like the small size for watch pocket, the shape is better than a Viper, and the Wharncliffe is a favorite of mine. Thanks for what you did to me you guys!
