ALEJANDRINO'S "MINT" XM-18 (pictures inside) ready for a good laugh, and a long read!

hm here is the thing that I dont get, even if he lose his fame, he can make a new account and keep going. sort of like me (i did not make new account cuz i did something wrong, i just didnt like the name 'mliu8n')

I just caught a troll trying to sneak back over the gunwale about an hour ago (link). The moderators are not as easy to fool as some people think we are....

I wonder what is eating you, that I bought it less than I sold it for?? If the knife did get to you like that, why can't you just send it back and get a refund?? I wish Solstice would read this forum and make his comments?? Is that how it was when I you sent it??I really don't care if I sold another item in this forum as I am in this forum to enjoy the camaderie(guess this is a turning point?)If I make some money from buying low and selling high, good! I do not depend on this to eat!! Like I said, if you all don't trust me, I will send payment to a third party( I can trust, like STR if he will). Fact is, Randy is still emailing me for the $50.00 and all is done! No, I want the knife back and money returned. I don't want him to keep the knife!! Keep my name in your buddy list and say I am a "nobuddy keep off".to you would be judges

You did not make money by buying low and selling high. You made money through misrepresentation. Misrepresentation that is looking more and more deliberate every time you've typed anything in this thread. I would venture that its blatantly obvious to everyone who is keeping track of this thread.

How exactly does a knife go from "used carried and sharpened" to "mint", alejandrino? Amongst all your ramblings here, you've never once addressed how this could be possible. I'm interested to hear your explanation for it too; it should be good for a few laughs.

And yes, the more you go on with your absurd attempts at rationalizations, the more likely it becomes that this is a turning point in your forum experience.

I 'll tell you what, let's get this thing settled and you can start a petition to ban me and believe you me, I won't even attempt to come back after hearing all the negative comments from my would be judges!!

well, everyone makes mistakes.

but you should be able to admit it. how can this 'mint' knife become so rugged after shipping? unless you suggest that someone intercepted the package and chaned the 'mint'xm18, or that your suggesting So-Lo is scamming you by posting another xm-18.

For $450 you can get a truly mint X-18. Send it back after your money is returned and not before.

What a FreakingAss mess! This is the primary reason that I try my hardest to have full disclosure in all my For Sale threads, including the best pictures I can take. Which on folders I always try to include a lockup/open and closed (position of blade) pictures.

Yes, this the one and same XM-18 that I sold alejandrino. I know this from the telltale signs.

1) The scratches from using it, blade and pocket clip.
2) The nick on the choil from my Jet sharpening wheel. There should be a matching one on the other side.
3) The wider profile of the sharpened edge. On one side of the blade the profile should be slightly wider than the other side, up by the belly.
4) The dark patches on the hollow grind, where I clean it with ultra fine steel wool.

This knife was a daily carry through most of summer. It saw plenty of action. It held up as a XM-18 should have and function/performance were still (IMO) rock solid. But, due to having used it I felt it only fair to take some money off my purchase price. I was not the original owner, but the knife came to me in such good condition I felt lucky to have paid $475.00 for such a sought after knife. My asking price of $375.00 seemed reasonable and I even got some gentle ribbing from Forums Friends about going so low.

Prior to selling the folder I gave it a WD-40 bath and dried it with compressed air. I believe that the pivot in my For Sale thread picture is visibly clean. I checked lock up, I checked centering (blade didn't scrap either side of Ti), I checked side play, and even steeled it for good measure. Knife was shipped USPS priority mail, fully insured with confirmation. Arrival was confirmed, as was the satisfaction of the buyer.

This is still one of the nicest folders I've ever owned, even in the condition that it's currently in. Of course some folks prefer like new condition and factory edges, which is the reason I gave Rick's website address. Rick does do refurbishes, and I believe they are at a reasonable price. His forum is on USN, but he is currently very tied up with building a new shop and getting back orders out the door. Personally I wouldn't bother, the knife has had it's cherry popped and is ready to perform. But, that's just me.

It's a shame this couldn't have been handle out of the Forums. Hopefully the two of you can work this out. Good luck to the both of you.

For future reference,, all sellers should be aware that no Preowned knife is "mint" and very few new knives are "mint". In the knife world, the word "mint" means perfect, not very good and not excellent. It is impossible for a "lightly carried" or "rarely handled" knife to be "mint".

did you ever lick a user Carson?

They always taste like mint!!!:D:D

So you are wrong:p

Guess Sosltice sums it all ! Was the clip really that bad??I guess I was wrong and did not see those imperfections !! I should have looked closer ! I was wrong and apologize to everybody especially Randy ! I can't believe I was this off !! As I had stated earlier, I will refund the money and want the knife back. I WILL NOT GIVE $50.00 DOLLARS BACK AND HAVE RANDY KEEP THE KNIFE. I PREFER TO SEE THE KNIFE AGAIN AND SEE WHAT I MISSED. I PROMISE NOT TO SELL THIS KNIFE IN THIS FORUM AGAIN, NOT THAT I WILL GET ANY BUYERS. MUCH AS I AM SORRY AND APOLOGIZE TO RANDY , THIS HAS CAUSED ME GREAT EMBARRASSMENT, I WISH HE HAD JUST RETURNED THE KNIFE AND GOTTEN HIS MONEY BACK SO I COULD SEE IN PERSON THE KNIFES CONDITION!!

It's okay, keep them coming !! I deserve it !!

Nah. Honestly, I really don't need to add any more insults to an already difficult situation. The problem with public forums is that there is a tendency to have people poking their noses where it doesn't belong. In this situation, that means me.

Of course, that's also the benefit. The pressure (as you know now) from others to make it right can be a powerful force.

Anyway, enough said. I really hope you make good on this and that it's worked out.

Brett

Well folks, I do have a refund for the full amount pending in my Paypal. He is going to cover, the shipping back, and any refund fees if there are any. I will ship the knife back Monday assuming the paypal has cleared.

ANYONE HAVE A USED OR NEW XM-18 FLIPPER OR NON-FLIPPER ? :D

Sounds like this is coming to an end. Both parties not losing anything in the end. I am glad that Alejandrino took care of business!

congrats on getting your knife back, but i suggest waiting till shipping clears before sending the knife back

alejandrino: For what it's worth. I did a somewhat similar thing during one of my first transactions here on the exchange. The knife, was to me, in excellent condition. But my definition and the norm here on the exchange were different. Hell. I may have called it mint. The knife I sold had been previously sharpened and had some kydex rub marks. No biggy to me. I have all users. The buyer was a big user as well but bought with the intention that mine and his definition of "excellent" were the same. He showed me a link here on the exchange that broke down the different descriptions. And he was right.

So I asked him what would make him happy. He asked for a fair amount as a refund and kept the knife. I even added a little extra for the aggravation as it was my fault.

This had a happy conclusion because we were both able to keep an open and respectful dialog from start to finish. No insults. No accusations. And we would still both deal with one another again.

I do not know either of you guys but I say just finish this deal and move on. If So-Lo wants to keep the knife I think a $$$ back to him is fair. Perhaps you guys could work that out. Keeping your integrity and good standing can sometimes cost but is so worth it in the end.

I'm not pointing fingers or picking sides. Just sharing my somewhat similar experience. Good luck to you both.

Never mind. I type so dang slow. Good on both of you. We need you guys around here. :)

So-Lo: I'll keep my eyes peeled for you.
