Allan Blade

It's going to cost him extra to ship over 61,897 pennies. I don't know how many pounds that would be, though. My penny jar isn't that full.

Oh, wait. If he sends cash, it's only 59,862 pennies.

There is no substitute for dealing fair with people.

Good for you Alan for finally getting Joe taken care of.

When exactly did he get Joe taken care of? Did I miss something. I see another promise, but no payment as of yet.

As far as Allan's statement about looking foolish when he pays Joe and everybody gets their knives, that's a joke right? I still firmly believe that if people hadn't got on Allan's ass he never would have made good with all the people he owed five years ago. I'm never going to feel foolish over my treatment of Allan Blade, never.

So, I wonder if this time Allan has really left us for good? Seems he's made that comment before, quite a few times.

At 3.4% that fee would amount to $20.35, for a grand total owed of $618.97.

Actually, the grand total owed with a 3.4% fee would be $619.69 USD in order to net $598.62.

The formula would be TP= p + (TP X .034), where TP = total amount with fee; p = original amount.

$598.62/.966 = $619.69

:D

When Joe said "I saw it Email sent" and then talked about the amount, I thought Joe meant that he was sent a paypal email notice for payment. I'm slow at times. I jumped the gun....

That's what I thought.:)

If anyone wants to check the links below that Allan Blade did not send all the taloniite back to Rob Simonich.

In the first link you will see that Allan got $685.00 worth of Talonite from Rob to make knives for Joe Chen. Farther down Allan posts that he send back the Talonite he has left. In a later post by Joe Chen, Joe states that he received 8 of his Talonite knives. Sure looks to me like Allan used some of that Talonite and didn't send it all back to Rob.

The second link shows that Rob received the Talonite and that some had been used.

Hey Joe, now that Alan knows the exact amount he owes you it should only take 6-7 more years until you are paid in full!!!

That is if Alan keeps his word to pay so as soon as possible.....

And without your obscure but wise pronouncement, would we ever have known it?

Whatever you're talking about ... my feet ain't sore.

I'll have to do some digging. . . . .but. . . . .I've got the "Blade Payment Equation" somewhere. :D

I would like to officially state that I've been wrong about Allan Blade.

i have admitted that over and over again,,, have i been catching up and repaying folks and getting knives to folks , yes and will continue to do so [...] THey like to call me a THIEF, last time i checked a THIEF doesnt send people what he owes them,,, but maybe im missing somthing,,,,,,

I have spent a considerable amount of time searching, researching, and comparing the facts. I've come to the conclusion that Allan Blade is correct. He IS NOT a THIEF !

What people have failed to realize is that the money that Joe provided was a LOAN.

That's right, a long-term, interest free loan. Think about it.

No graduated repayment, no amortization schedules, no contingent repayment clauses, no income-sensitive repayment clauses, no deferred interest clauses, and no negative amortization clauses.

It's something like an "Extended / Deferred Repayment Loan."

The excellent business person that Blade is, he did make Joe agree to a forbearance clause. What I've learned, Blade calls it "TSBGBI," or "Tuff Shit Buddy, Grim and Bear It."

I have not been able to get to the very bottom of this, but what I can glean from the loan data is that payment towards the principle is based on the WIW Concept, commonly referred to as, "When I Want."

:p :D

After a fair bit of googling I am still not sure what Talonite is. What I read says its an alloy, I take it that its a metal, or is it a non metal compound like carbon fibre?

Trying to work out if it was used for blades or handles, i know this has no bearing on whether or not its not been paid for, just never heard of it before.

Rgds

Thanks LB,

I asked as in the UK you cant make knives just from non metal substances anymore, its due to being intended to avoid metal detectors etc so wondered if it was worth sourcing blades made in it.

Talonite, Stellite, and David Boye's dendritic cobalt blades are based on cobalt rather than iron, so they can't rust. They also don't hold a sharp edge the same way steel does, but even though they provide a softer matrix, the carbides formed in them continue cutting well even after the edge is technically dull. Expensive alloys.

Normally I wouldn't respond to a reply like this; but this reply to Sandy Morrissey really bothers me. I would sincerely hang my head in shame if I had made a reply like this to a wise man in his 80's. (BTW, Sandy happens to be one of the best sheath makers/leather workers on the entire planet with over 60-years experience. Go look for some photos of his work -- you will be stunned). Sandy is also a forum moderator on some other forums -- he is always respectful of others, always offering very sage and sound advice to those who are willing to listen.

I think Sandy's reply to this thread makes perfect sense to the observant and astute. It would take a man with Sandy's years of 'people experience' to make such a brief, accurate statement about what has gone on here. Personally, I would pay close attention to what this man has to say and be the wiser for it.

I'm very, very sorry to hear about the recent passing of your wife, Sandy. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
