Am I the only one who doesn’t like Spyderco

Form follows function, and with the innovation behind releasing knives in premium steels, they are an excellent cutting tool.

Even when gloved, I can reach into my pocket and pull out my Military, Drunken, Manix 2, GB, PPT, open and close them effortlessly without even looking.

The thumbholes allow for full flat grinds and don't get in the way of sharpening, and are my preferred way of opening a folder.

The only knock I personally have against Spydercos are the pinned FRN models.

They're good users, a little rough in terms of production quality (especially the wonky grinds on the US-made ones), and becoming rapidly overpriced. Retail on my Manix in April 2020 was $127; they cost about 25% now. I use my Manix if I need to cut a bunch of cardboard, but there are lots of other knives I'd reach for before any of my Spydercos.

I appreciate Spyderco's dedication to metallurgy and heat treatment. They make knives in more steels, and more interesting steels, than any other company, and the spider on the blade means that it's done as well as it can be done in a production environment.

I've never found one that I like. They just don't do it for me. I don't hate them though.

Not like Spyderco? Whaaaaattttt. Hahaha. Surely you're pulling our leg🤣
I have hundreds of them. Fixed, Folder, some with holes, some without.
There's soooo many variations within the brand... have you actually fiddled with them all to make that conclusion?

I've tried one main-line Spyderco, and two from the Byrd line. Couldn't get over the bump-out for the spyderhole.

I am not hard on my knives in terms of using them to cut nails or lever things apart, but I'm not confident in my ability to properly respect the very thin blade tips.

I have, The only model that remotely appealed to me was a smock. I got to handle one and I realized, Spydies just aren’t for me.

I really like their H1 series. Very unique, and they offer very high value and capability. But in every other category, I’ve found something better that often costs much less.

Bought a Delica a couple years back... Did not think much either way until I recently got the PM2 in S90v... I am now a big fan and have a second PM2 on the way in M4... This will be my EDC for the foreseeable furture.

Ive used most of their lineup and if anything could be omitted it would for me be the H1 series. Thats not exciting, rustproof big deal give me carbon around salt ill make due. The innovation “in every other category”,,,,,,found something better? Bullshit.

It’s like your underwear, up to you. Really like some models and indifferent to others. I get the impression they actually give a s*#t about their product and I really understand you can’t please everyone. So it goes.

I’ve been using one as a dive knife. It’s much better than the dive shop specials that I had tried before, and I found them to be superior to the more expensive titanium knives that my dive buddies carried.

I never really gave much thought to how they’d perform in any other role, but I always have my serrated Tasman 2 clipped to my BC whenever I dive.

Surprised when I saw a 10+ year old account created a thread thats been created hundreds if not thousands of times. A smock? Screw that new custom collab it hardly embodies the company. Send me your addy and Ill send you my s90v delica to use for the year. Guarantee it outperforms those microtechs in every way less knuckleheadedness.

Yea, the tasman (merlin/harpy) has been serving divers well for decades. H1 just made the steel not rust (or stay sharp 😝).

As the title states. I have never owned or had the desire to buy a Spyderco. I’ve had friends who love them and I’ve handled them, but they are just not my cup of tea. Am I the only one with no love for them?
No, you aren't. Seen a few over the years. What rings the bell for each individual varies. But they appeal to a fair number of knife knuts, including me.

Thanks for the offer. I have plenty of my own users. As far as the thread, I’m sorry if I offended you , was just putting it on out there for my like minded brethren
