Another scammer?

Perhaps another theory to consider is that someone is specifically targeting one or both of the parties involved. Could someone be trying to cause trouble for one of them? An enemy? Ex wife? Co-worker? Seems unlikely, but still more likely than a random hacker targeting random people on a forum. It's far too personal for that.

If there was a picture of the knife in question, could that be posted here? In particular the thread in whatever site the knife picture is from. That may help in figuring out what is going on. So far, all we have in a great deal of evidence from Wolfsnagel, and some screenshots that Knifehunt's email may or may not have been compromised.

It just seems rather unlikely for a hacker to go to all this trouble with a random victim. What would it benefit the hacker?

Upstanding members would be here giving us a very quick and rational explanation.....
My "Upstanding" would include that.

I have no dog in this fight, but running and hiding is a big red flag for me personally.

And in that thread Harrishmasher said the same thing Mike is saying. That Wolfsnagle contacted him, offered to trade, and that the trade offer was declined. Mike said the same thing....

I think Wolfsnagle is pissed at Mike because Wolfsnagle prematurely believed Mike would be sending him a knife but ultimately didn't. It cost Wolfsnagle the trouble of making some fake shipping documentation which, SURPRISE, never showed up anywhere. This thread is Wolfsnagle's payback to knifehunt. Just like the last thread where he was pissed at Harrishmasher for also declining.

Perhaps there is no "quick and rational explanation". All I can attest to is the fact that my interactions with Knifehunt were exemplary and I've seen no evidence to conclude he's not an upstanding member. Apparently your criteria for membership in that club differs.

Maybe this is payback from those two for being dragged through here once.

Maybe this is an email scam by a third party.

Maybe this would all be over and done with if the two "upstanding" members would care to join and help solve this....

We have all seen "exemplary" members end up here and for whatever reason go down the wrong path....

It's sad to see, but it has happened many times before.

All those two need to do is stand up and explain why the OP is wrong, and I am sure they would love to know how the OP got all this personal info and access to email addresses, wouldn't you?
That is what "upstanding" and "exemplary" members of a community do.

If I was accused by the OP of this exact thing, and he had my address, emails from me, etc...

I would be blowing this thread up trying to figure out what the hell was going on, and how it happened.
I would be working with the OP to try to authenticate where those messages came from, and I would be very diligent at figuring this out in front of this community.

I am sure you all would be doing the same......

Imagine the following scenario: I have, under another account (possibly on another knife forum) successfully concluded a transaction with Knifehunt. I have his personal information, including his name, address and email account. I then have all the information I need to initiate such a scam.

I have no explanation for why Knifehunt chooses not to defend himself. It's entirely plausible that he wants no part of a community that questions his integrity almost from the onset of this thread.

All I'm saying, JR88FAN, is that he should be given the benefit of the doubt and nothing should necessarily be construed from the fact that he's washed his hands of the entire affair.

I for one, don't blade harrishmasher one bit, for leaving! Somebody trashes my reputation here, & this is the way it's downplayed, is complete bullshit! On the internet, our reputation is all we have!

And with all due respect RevDevil: your comparison to what happened on the JD, isn't quite at this level IMO. I remember that thread very well (I commented in it). That was a clear cut case of retaliation. You had everyone's support (Rat's & LaBella). We're not Super Mod's here- we're simple paying member's. When our reputations are being threatened (as in the case of harrishmasher), something more should be done about it, rather than just deleting the posts & sweeping it under the carpet, so the speak. To twist this in this manner; stating that I was trying to incite everyone here, was a complete cop out. I didn't start this mess or incite anything- Wolfnagel did!

Right now, I could give a crap about this other convoluted drama (between Wolfnagel & knifehunt). I haven't a continental clue what's going on here! I'm talking about BF member: harrishmasher, & those posts that Wolfnagel posted about him (the ones that were deleted).

Where else? I'm pretty sure you're allowed to say the name of other forums.
 
It was on bcUSA. He was a member who got himself banned in an argument and came back under many different names with the intentions of scamming people. He did it successfully. If you can log in there he is listed in the "bad trades" section page 56 post #560 and on.

There is a list there also with his several screen names he's screwed people using.

You may be right, the hard part for me, is that when a decent persons integrity is questioned they step up to the plate...

That kinda goes hand in hand with being "upstanding"

When you run for the hills, I have to ask what you're running from?
