Here is my homage to a great old cutler. These barlows have rosewood scales that were salvaged from the old Cattaraugus factory in Little Valley, NY. The etch beautifully depicts this old factory, and was designed by a true artist, and great friend of mine, Barry, AKA Gunstockjack. I hope I gave this historic wood the justice it deserves with these knives!

Was the old factory wood nearly petrified Evan?:confused: They are all beautiful.;)

Thanks Rob! The wood actually isn't all that petrified, it just looks like it has been soaking up dirt and rain for almost 100 years. I have a few other pieces lined up for projects, so I'll snag some pics of what the scales look like before I haft them. I will say that the further I sanded, the more the natural color and grain of the wood appeared. I suspect that the dark brown(almost black) scales, shown on the 2 bladed knives above, are so dark because whatever elements they were in contact with soaked the scales through. I was actually very surprised with how the scales turned out after I hafted them down. Some of them don't look anything like what they did in their original form. I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome.

I love all the pretty little Catt folders here, but I go for their bigger brothers. Here are a few of my best including the elusive "Antarctic Special".
