Sleeveboard // found no number on it // 3 & 5/16 in. long // jigged bone covers with no Indian Trails // no half stops //

I will call this an Equal End Pen numbered 22609 // 3 in. long // no half stops // jigged bone covers with Indian Trails // has no shield and no hole in mark side cover like it ever had a shield

Both covers on both knives are on tight and both blades on both knives have no wobble

Some very fine Catts Mr. Harry - I would guess the sleeveboard pen with no shield to be post depression. ;)

After spun pins, less Indian trails. ;)

I like all of them ! :)

Cattaraugus showed many shieldless knives in the old catalogs.

Thanks for the information and the kind words Mr. Primble !!!!!!
Do you think the Pattern Number on the last knife is correct ????? It is certainly differant from all the others that I have seen in person or on the net.

It is a 22609 Harry - number stamp probably did not strike just right - found it in catalog - bone pen with no shield - yours looks identical to the catalog pic.

Cattaraugus Model #32869 or #32689 can't quite make out the third digit. Split back Whittler. Small 3.25" closed length. Very well made with solid lockup on all baldes great W&T. Beautiful swedges. Hardly looks used or ever sharpened.

Really nice one Augie. I love the grain in the wood and the thin long pull...

I agree with Jake Augie, love everything about that knife, the tang stamp, blade combo and covers!!!

Nice find Augie !! I have finally had time to go through the the Old Cattaraugus Catalogue to try to find the number for it .
There is one in the catalogue just like it except for the blade .( Page 85 )It shows a Clip with a Nail Nick , but I do not find that they put code numbers on the Blades or Nail Nicks . The catalogue shows a number of 21346 !!!
2 = 2 Blades
1 = 1 Bolster
34 = Pattern Code = Jack / Pen
6 = Handle Codes = Ebony
The one shown in the Catalogue also has the same Shield and has the 4 Brass Pins in the Covers , which is somewhat out of the normal of 3 Pins.

Beautiful knife Augie !!!

Lloyd : Is it a 32869 or a 32689 ????
The 3 is for the number of Blades
The 2 is for the number of Bolsters
The 9 is for the type of Handle with 9 being Rogers Jigged bone
The third and fourth numbers are the Pattern Code :
86 is the code for Carpenter Whittler //// 68 is the code for Congress Pen
If there is a W after the number , that would be the code for Nail File

I did not find a knife like yours in my Cattaraugus Catalogue , but I may have overlooked it !!!
I really like your knife !!! IMO that is a very nice find !!!

Harry, thanks for your input on this small Whittler! It looks like 32689 to me. What do you think? Thanks again for your help in identifying this model--much appreciated. Lloyd

You are welcome Lloyd , but it is not a Whittler .

Okay Harry I'll bite, then what is it? It is split spring and has the Whittler type blade layout or configuration. Please advise further. Thanks, Lloyd

According to the Cattaraugus Catalogue , the third and fourth numbers , in this case 68 , is the pattern code of a Congress Pen . Unless I am seeing your picture incorrectly , one of your small blades also has a file . Never saw a Whittler with a file myself .
