Thanks Harry! Well, I would call it then a Congress Pen Split Spring Whittler. I have never seen a split spring with or without a file type secondary blade on the non primary end that wasn't a Whittler. Thanks, again for checking the Cattaraugus Catalog-- much appreciated. Lloyd

Been trying to save my money for the Rendezvous but had to pick this one up when I saw it, really nice Catt Whitler, love the saber clip main blade.

Nice find John! Yeah, that saber clip main blade is very nice:thumbup: I also like those Ebony? smooth wood handles. Overall a real winner of a Whittler for your collection! Lloyd

Thank you Lloyd, appreciate it. I think it is supposed to be Ebony but its the smoothest Ebony I've ever seen.

Augie, I just acquired the same knife, it is not ebony, despite the knife stamp ending in 6. I have two, 32876 and 32126, the 87 is ebony. Not sure of material, but a faux ebony (Derlin or some thermoplastic material). Great knives from a historcally important cutlery company.

Some really nice Catts PGOCKLEY !!!! Is there a faint stamping on the Sabre Clip of the 32126 , or is it just my old eyes playing tricks again ????
I also like your 22509 !!! That is just a beauty my friend !! Thanks for posting them !!!

Harry

Your eyes are working well! Indeed stamp reads G.W Stewart... must have been a special knife for Mr. Stewart, don't know anything about it...steel on these knives is top shelf, just sharpens splendidly.

Mr. PGOCKLEY : If you do not have an old Cattaraugus catalogue , I would be happy to translate their the numbers for you .

Harry

Harry,
Please do translate. I just received book/catalog "Catt Cutlery Co." by Ritchie and Stewart, haven't had time.. thanks

I will quickly do one of them :
32876 :
3 = 3 Blades
2 = 2 Bolsters
87 = Carpenter Whittler
6 = Ebony

For your other 2 knives , I will just have to translate the 40 in the 32406 and the 12 in the 32126
40 = Large Whittler / Easy open Jack
12 = Open End Jack

Very glad to see that you obtained one of their catalogs .

Harry

Easy enough, I have 2 more Catts on the way, post pics later and I will translate #s.

2 more Catts. Large Jack #22269 3 5/8" worm groove bone and Congress Pen #22772 French Pearl (faux) 2 7/8"
Cleaned and sharpened, lovely old knives. The large jack was well used, a real tool as evidenced by blade wear.
