Anyone else just stopped buying knives?

Yes, it's just one part of my kit and if I go through 210 rifle, 45 pistol then I'm probably SOL and a blade isn't going to help much.

No but between the buying and selling the total number has decreased quite a bit while what I have is much better suited to my current activities and needs. I think that is about done for now but will be revisited later as Father Time changes everything.

I stopped buying knives cold-turkey two years ago. That's when I got the brilliant idea I should try making them. Ever since I've spent all my money on machinery and abrasive belts!

I did a complete collection reset a bit back stating going forward I would only pick up knives that I would carry and use. Since then I own a total of 5, I feel like I get to spend more time with each blade and still rotate regularly. Haven’t necessarily stopped just slowed way down.

I’ve never had more than 10 knives at a time, but I’ve traded out and bought and sold so many… I’ve really narrowed down my lane into knives I absolutely know I like and use. Whenever I try to deviate from my niche, I always end up getting rid of them.

I don’t know if I have stopped buying knives “cold-turkey” but I have slowed WAAYYYYY down. I just don’t see much of anything on the market that makes me want to reach for my wallet.

I hope you enjoy the two I sent ya!

I had planned on one or two until next year, including a custom on order due in November. After that, I was going to take a break. However, after having my customized (if old and well used) PM2 stolen from my checked bags I'm now considering several knives. A Kapara to replace the PM2, plus maybe a Biryukov and possibly a reblade on my Yojimbo 2.

Stop it!

I was done with 2023, but then I just pulled the trigger on a Kershaw Launch 13. This will complement my Launch 11. Every knife needs its complement, right?

Never forget: you are only one knife away from your next knife.
