Anyone else just stopped buying knives?

Gary, your problem is that every time I see you post a knife and think to myself, "that's a nice one", the next day it's in the "Exchange". LOL.
Indecision may or may not be my problem!

but yes, I feel that I have pretty good taste in knives, but I see SO many that I like that about the only way to get another one is to part with one, and round and round it goes.

I don't buy knives nearly as often as I used to, but I still buy interesting things occasionally. I have so many of all different sizes and applications at this point that 95% of knives are boring and no longer interest me.

If I have extra money and something cool I want to try is actually available, I'll still buy a new knife.

Nope. I don't think I've even slowed down.
The sheer number of knives out there gives me the illusion that I'm not buying that many. I've tried to buy good bang for the buck, and things that hold their value. Come the apocalypse they should be worth a can of beans or two.
But this is the golden age of knives and if you have that particular DNA, you just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Have not stopped, but now I hit my target with a bullet and don't need buckshot to get all of them.

I haven't stopped, as in, I intend to continue purchasing. I haven't found anything I want to purchase. I'm not a steel connoisseur, there are only a few blade shapes, locks, and handle slab materials I'm interested in....

I can't tell myself "yes, but" loudly enough to drown out the fact that a knife's job is to cut things. All the knives I have do that job, and I haven't found a new use-case that I "need" a knife for. Unless something comes along that fits in the center of the Venn diagram of "things I want", for a price I'm willing to pay, my credit card is staying in my wallet.

Yes.

I’ve quit buying sub-$100 knives. I’ve quit buying them 10 times over. I have no tolerance for mid-range crap.

Unfortunately, the one >$500 knife I buy each month dwarfs the savings from budget knives I no longer buy.

I’d like any advice from my BF cohorts about how best to explain that to a spouse.

I had stopped for years, but a TSA confiscation of my EDC has me back in the game, and now I have a lot more disposable income 😄
