Anyone else looking forward to the GEC #83?

My second one arrived the other day, and I can't seem to put it away. I'm usually a Tidioute guy, but the Northfield 83's are something special. The long pull, swedge, and threaded bolsters really set this knife off!

It appears that this may be GEC's biggest run yet? With all the various cover options coupled with the 2 blade styles these would have to be pushing nearly 1,000 production units?

I think the Beer/Soda/Gun Scouts were pushing 2000....

Beautiful pair!!!

I bought the wood 72 because my others were collectable...... turns Out they only made 50 or so. It's hard to judge what will be long term valuable.

Great combo

I regret not grabbing one of those 72s. I may have to find an acrylic and get it rehandled.

So, Im considering picking up another NF 83 to get rehandled in either a smooth white bone or Amboyna wood. Have any of you already modified your 83s? Or, are thinking of doing so?

Brett, that's an interesting idea. I am sure amboyna burl would look amazing. I am carrying my ebony 83. It's been my favorite since day one! This, in fact, may become my all time favorite.

Boy Brett , one of them in Amboyna or Desert Iron Wood would really be great. Anything with some tight grain and some burl.

Curtis and Harry - It was one of those thoughts that come and go, but the 83 sure would look good in either imo. Honestly, Im craving to get a 73 rehandled in amboyna, but it sure would be a great combo to have the NF Clip 83 and a 73 nail nick both in amboyna with a long bar shield. :D

Brett, just make it easy on everyone and whip up a SFO. It can't be that hard Charlie does all the time! :)

The tortoise shell will probably be out in a few days. The GEC web site has them being made in the "what's happening" section.

You know, I have always wondered what all it took to get an SFO going for a pattern with three options. If I had the funds buddy, I would....after I did an 81 SFO. :D;)

Strange, I resisted purchasing any GEC knives due to finances, yet today I received my second one this week. The first was the Northfield #83 clip point Natural Stag that I posted the other day and today I received the same in Yellow Rose. I'll post photos later. All I can say is they are both as close to perfect as possible. WOW! Now I have my eye on a #73 or #99.

Now that's a thorn.

What a beautiful picture!

(Flickr has now made it impossible, or all but, to find the image codes to easily post pictures on message boards. :grumpy: I had hoped to point you to an easy fix for your image link above, but had to do some digging to discover a workaround to what used to be straightforward....)

Thanks, You and Frank figured out how to get my photos to appear but my old, slow laptop gives me fits so I'm forced to use an iPod which is not ideal for many things. I'd rather spend my $$ on knives than a new computer. Oh well, choices.
