Anyone else looking forward to the GEC #83?

Official order time was 10:51....only 3 minutes after my post commenting on Ron's pictures. It was a short fall over the edge Sarah!!!

The first one arrived. A few more on the way. I really like this knife. Can't feel any play on this one.
Next to the 73 for those on the fence.

Thanks for the comparison shots Brett. Which one fits your hand best ???

Harry

Harry, I have smaller hands. They're only 6 3/4 from the back of the palm to the tip of the middle finger.

The 73 has always been the longest single blade I enjoyed carrying and, while I haven't used the 83, I think the 83 will be the shortest single I will enjoy for a primary edc. If this one had been 3 1/2 I would say it fit my hand perfectly. I honestly love how thin it is and I do really think the length is perfect it just doest instill the same confidence as the 73, if that makes sense.

I will say I love the pull and lock. The 83 will certainly be carried a lot, especially work, church, and events the call for a smaller carry.

Mine arrived. I love it. Some knifes have to grow on me, this one was an instant favorite. No blade play. Excellent fit and finish. The ebony is a very deep black, just perfect to my eye. This is just an iphone photo. The 83 looks large in the picture but that is not the case. I think I'll really enjoy carrying this guy.

Curtis, I like that shot!

I can't wait for my ebony. Mike, at CK caught a crack on mine thankfully and is sending me another. I can't wait to get a patina going on it. :D

Keep the comparison shots coming! I'm near the ledge...getting pulled over...

Anyone have any shots next to an Alox cadet? Or Buck 55?

My first one arrived today, won't be my last. No side to side play, up and down only a hair, as good as any production lockback in it's price range. Hope they make a few in some kind of ivory and or cyclops.

Thanks for the comparison shots Brett and Curtis! You're making the wait that much harder... Takes around 2 weeks to get to me after ordering, so hopefully my ebony is here next week :)

I agree with you about the 73 being about the longest single blade I'm comfortable carrying. Really looking forward to the 83.

I loved the Cocobolo Northfields that were coming through the line when I did the tour at the Rendezvous but the Ebony is so clean! I think I need one and your pictures are pushing me over the edge...AHHHHHH

Jake I am glad I could help you make your choice, well I think you will be pleased :D
I picked up a Cocobolo for Mark on Saturday morning before we left for the picnic. It was
a beauty, and I checked several to find the one with the tightest lockup. He should have it
In hand tomorrow  Again it was great meeting and talking to you at the Rendezvous :D

Brett, your pictures alongside the #72 and the in-hand shot sealed the deal for me. Autumn bone and ebony inbound

I thought I'd add that the 83 is slightly smaller in length and thickness than a single blade TC. Not too big not too small. The blade length is surprisingly big.

I hope to get better photos tomorrow.

In the pictures i have seen here, the Black Bone does not look attractive. Reminds me of a dirty road rash (bits of grit ground into the skin from skidding along the road). Is it better looking in person ? If you have one, how much do you like it ?

I actually wasn't looking forward to this pattern. For some reason, I thought it would be a thicker knife, but when I saw KSF's video I got interested.

I bought the black Camel bone. You are right about it being very different in look than, say, the last run of Broadways KSF did. But I actually like these better. Further, I think it's the "light" ones that are most beautiful (which seem less popular based on what's left at KSF).

Especially if you already have black camel bone, you might consider one of these light ones....it's just another "look" for the collection.
