Art Knife Invitational '09 ~ images/impressions

That's my business partner Peter.

He apprenticed under Rod Chappel and studied under Phil Baldwin...he has actually made some superb knives(the photo Buddy put up IS funny, though).

That's his Santa Fe Stoneworks damascus steaknife and a fork from the hotel in front of him.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

STeven, if I gave the impression that I was disrespectful in any way I'm sorry...but I just thought (and still think) the photo was funny.

Peter is cool

Here's another cool guy - Matt Diskin - checking out one of Steven's knives:

AKI 2009 was the total knife weekend experience for us - great knives, great people, great food and great location/weather. :D Special thanks to Sr. Garsson.

now that is an enigmatic smile! Mona Lisa- eat your heart out:)

Very sharp, Steven. White contrasting collar, he?

Not normally my speed, Joss, but the fabric is superlative....and machine washable.

That is a very nice Robert Graham shirt that Matt is sporting in the picture above.

Best Regards,

Steven, what type of small folder is that you're holding? Lookin sharp, man!

It's a Trapper that Harvey made.....I think the steel was O1, including the backspring.....I prefer stainless....absolutely beautiful amber stag on it....we was just having a "look over" the three of us, great walk n talk on that one.

Best Regards,

STeven Garssson

Here's a Point Seven shot of Bob Betzner's Julie Warenski-Erickson/Curt Erickson California Dagger

Knice stuff kohai. I really like Paul smith stuff. You should check it out.

For you East Coast folks, Curt and Julie will be at the Boston Invitational next October.

Thanks, guys. One thing that I personally think sets it off, when you look at it closely, is the clear "crystal-cut" engraving around the edge of the handle wrap.

But beyond this knife, there was just so much to see at this show. It will be on my "absolutely to do" list from now on. I had several knives I sought answers about - and all the makers were there. It was great, and all my questions were answered. What talent there was in that room!

As I studied the knife I was also drawn to this aspect. VERY subtle and worthy.

Great photograph.

That's one element which the Point 7 picture - otherwise very good technically - completely fails to showcase.

Joss, here is a detail of the handle that shows the border engraving.

I have about 5 spare AKI Catalogues.
Just send me a PM and I'll be glad to send one to you for the cost of postage, until they are gone.
One per person, please.

They are all spoken for. Thanks, Steve.
