Be sure to hook up with us. It will be good to see you and Ang again if she comes.
Absolutely! It works out good for us because ATL is fairly close, and as long as I buy some stuff for the shop I can write off part of the expense. I think we'll spend more time just hanging out with certain people instead of trying to see every single booth at the show. There are really only about a dozen makers and probably half a dozen vendors I'm really interested in talking with... maybe catch a seminar or two. Honestly, most of the rest of it is stuff I can see online any time.
It's not just you. My head literally started hurting when I looked at all those shimmery colors.
I've seen a lot worse (or better, depending on how you look at it). Some of the custom stuff has
everything but the kitchen sink thrown on it... 2 or 3 kinds of damascus, mosaic pins, carving, fossiled T. Rex penis bone, engraving, gems, gold plating, filework... blech. Clearly those cats never took a design class... but hey, to each his own. *shrug*
Ate there twice at the last Blade. If you go, look for a pile of empty plates on one table and a pair of feet sticking out from under the table cloth. There may be moaning.
Last year was my first time... I'd heard some of you guys mention it, and Angie had been there before for a work thing, so she was like
"heck YEAH let's go there!" I was really pleased with both the food and service (even though they were slammed)... I don't remember what our bill was but I remember thinking it was pretty darn reasonable. I even talked the waitress into getting me a pint glass with their logo on it
The Tilted Kilt on the other hand, was just
awful. Terrible service, lukewarm overpriced beer (rather than pouring one at a time they were just filling up pitchers, leaving 'em on the backbar, and filling glasses from those... yeah, thanks, $6 for a flat warm beer that's been sitting out who-knows-how-long

), every TV in the place was absolutely blaring... it was like a bad parody of an Applebee's :thumbdn: No one I recognized showed up so we just had one pint, went to a liquor store and took a bottle back to our hotel room.
If anyone wants to meet up and go out for a couple beers one night, let me know. We have a friend there who plays in blues bands and knows all the cool bars outside of the touristy-trap stuff right on the strip. I know there are places right near the venue, but I'd rather share a cab with another couple or two than deal with that kinda place again.
