Bad experiences with BladeGoblin

After reading all this, what is the general consensus about shipping and customs issues?

Who pays shipping?
Who pays for insurance and who assumes the responsability for not insuring?
Who is responsible if the package gets stuck in customs?

It seems here (BF) that the seller has more of the responsability. Is there a standard?

I am not 100% on the legalities, but I know what is honorable, and what isn't. Nothing else really matters.
To me this stuff is really simple.
The buyer is responsible for getting funds to the seller, while the seller is responsible for getting the item that he has taken money for to the buyer.
Insurance is for the seller's protection...after all, the buyer has handled his end of the transaction by providing the seller's required amount of money--nothing keeps us from including insurance, etc. in our asking price.
How many knives would we sell if we added the stipulation that "buyer has paid only for ownership of the knife...whether it gets to him or not is HIS problem"?
Yet that is the attitude I've seen from some sellers. I personally do not deal with people who say that they are not responsible for lost or damaged packages(that being more common on candlepowerforums where I have recently done more trading than here).

Anthony doesn't have an understanding of what honorable really means. He has his own definition, and that definition is way different than mine.

Unbelievable. This thread just drags on, and on, and on, and on...

Whether this Anthony person was right or wrong, this transaction was between him and a single other person. That person hasn't posted for a long time, but there are page after page of posts from guys still pounding away at their typewriters about how virtuous and honorable they are, THEY'D never be so mean, etc., etc.

Do you really have so little else going on in your lives that this topic still gets your blood boiling after 9 months of posting virtually the same comments, over and over?! There's gotta be SOMETHING more interesting for you to do!

I'm sitting here waiting for my computer to finish a tedious task, and I could barely force myself to skim through the last 5 pages of posts.

Then it's pretty simple, don't. If you have such a hard time reading it, then just pass it by. As for just letting it go, won't happen. Having discussed this situation with the original poster, he still feels ripped off, but doesn't feel that posting on this thread is going to get him his money. That doesn't mean that BladeGoblin should be given a pass on it. I will continue to bring this to the top every once in awhile, and if you have a problem with that, then just don't bother with the thread.

"Bust a deal, and face the Wheel."

The wheel in this case is a revolving trip to the top of the G,B&U Forum.

If you don't want to, don't read it. THIS is how we warn others of bad dealings with a member, individual or institution...when it gets resolved, it no longer gets bumped.

If not resolved, it gets bumped, pretty much in perpetuity. Don't screw up, and it won't happen to you.

As far as a life goes, 5 minutes here, and I'm on with my life.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Clueless noob who should read more and post less. If you were screwed out of a knife of value would you not want others to know about it?? Its not about grudges corkie,,,its about warnings..for people like yourself with less than a hundred posts ...so that you know who is good to go and who is not..

As the other guys mention above, you're missing the whole point of the GB&U Forum. Keeping this thread above water serves as a warning to others that may contemplate doing future business with Anthony a.k.a. BladeGoblin.

This whole thing is an unnecessary shame. :grumpy: I'm still hopeful that Anthony is gong to do the right thing and settle this matter with Artem.

I didn't intentionally rip the guy off.

He obviously has had knives shipped to Russia, before we did any business.

He should have given me some special instructions and mentioned that "most sharp objects are illegal to ship to Russia" (WHICH THEY ARE) since he never mentioned that, I shipped them the way I always ship outside the country and they didnt make it.

Someone mentioned earlier in this thread, who has done business with me before, who lives in the U.S. where packages can be traced, that had this been him, I would have treated him the same way. Not a fair statement, these are completely different circumstances.

I won't comment in this thread anymore, resurrect it as much as you want, I didn't intentionally burn the guy.

What a load of shit. I put "Sales to lower 48 only" in my sale threads, but I have made exceptions. And all it took was a little common sense to get the knives there safely.

Common sense #1: Ask the buyer how the knife can get there safely. He probably has valuable insider knowledge about the system.

Common sense #2: Verify with the carrier what the buyer has told you, and be sure that your ass is covered via insurance and tracking. That means origination to destination and not just to a border.

Common sense #3: IMO, use USPS Global or Priority Express. In all cases, it has worked well for me.

Common sense #4: Be wary of customs and label goods appropriately. Again, consult with the buyer and ask about past experiences. A knife is a "camping tool," and if that's what it takes to get a knife past a crooked customs official and to its rightful owner, then so be it.

Common sense #5: Communicate up front. Tracking and insurance aren't always cheap to other countries, and so you need to let the buyer know that those options are the only way you'll sell and that he has to pay a little extra.

Common sense #6: Communicate after the deal. Make sure the package got there, and make sure the buyer is happy with his purchase.

This line about "sharp objects" being illegal to ship is a line of crap. I just sold a Busse to someone in Russia, shipped it Global Express, and it was there within a few days.

I can't believe someone would just pack a $180 knife off to Russia without even thinking about insurance and tracking. No common sense.

Artem, would you have paid about $20 more in shipping/insurance to assure that the knife/knives got there safely?

If you guys knew how Anthony Sorensen treats some of the folks he has had dealings with, you would realize that the only person important to Anthony Sorensen is Anthony Sorensen.

Got to thinking today that I hadn't seen this one in a while, figured I'd save Keith the trouble of bumping it this time.

I'd be willing to bet that Anthony still thinks he was in the right on this deal. Sad to think that there has still been nothing done.

i think a member who wont make things right should be banned from bladeforums until they do make things right.
