Jeff: I am glad that your knife is on the way to you and that it appears that the matter has been resolved.
Once again the generosity, support and help of BF forumites has been amazing.

Garrett: As you can see there is a huge price to pay for this kind of behavior. I am glad that you are making it right and making amends for what you have done.
I urge you young man to reflect on the choices you have made and take them to heart.
You have to decide which path you will follow in life. Where you are now, where you want to be in 10 years and how you will get there.

Wow this is awesome, well the end result. I'm glad you're getting your, and others', belongings back in the right hands.

Turns out the kid actually has balls and is going to do the right thing instead of hiding behind the internet (which isn't as safe as it once was). I hope he gets a big reality check.
 
Glad to see he is responding ... BUT now I'm worried. I just traded him a NIB Benchmade 940 listed here http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=652964 for a NIB Spyderco Black on Black Para that he emailed me about.

We were supposed to mail the knives it via. USPS with delivery confirmation on Saturday (we emailed back and forth several times) which I did. When I emailed him to let him know that I had sent the BM940 and gave him the delivery confirmation number, he told me that he didn't get to the post office before it closed and would mail it on Monday. On Monday I receive and email from him stating "para milli is shipped tracking number is 3080 2356 0000 0836 3641".

I've been working 12 hrs/day, 7 days a week so I really didn't even think about the knife until today and when I went to my mail box this afternoon the knife wasn't there so I checked the tracking number. Boy was I surprised when I read "There is no record of this item". I just sent him an email asking for a new tracking number because I thought that he may have made a typing error. Right after that I searched for to see the latest activity of gnw1209 on BF and ran across this thread.

I hope that he emails me with an explanation but based upon what I've read here I have REAL concerns. I will update this once I hear from him.

I just spoke to Garrett's GM, and she has shipped back four
trade deals/knives back to the owners. She gave me my tracking number and Tiburon's. She will e-mail the other two guys by days end.

Brian, I will e-mail your express number in a few minutes.

Looks like things are looking better.

You could always call him and tell him to be sure to send your knife back along with everyone elses. His number is in this thread!

The grandmother was extremely nice and apologetic on the phone and she said that gnw1209 had made a couple of legitimate trades in the beginning but then "he got carried away". Sounds like she's got her handful with him. If I would have done something like that when I was 14 my father would have beat the ever loving crap out of me. Oh well, lessons learned. One other thing, I'll make a mental note to make sure I never piss anybody on BF off ... you guys are serious!

I'm glad things worked out in the end on this.
But i have to agree with wolfmann601, i don't think the thief would've come clean if it werent for his own stupidity and you guys aggressively persuing him.

When everyone gets their knives back, IMHO, I think he should be permabanned.
There is no excuse for what he has done. Grandma's punishment will only go so far.

i think instead of banning him we should somehow mentor him in better ways...either that or somehow get him punished (which im sure will not be carried out by his grandmother, who is making up for his lack of smarts, by im sure constantly bailing him out). Chances are he wont show his face around here any longer...but if he does i wonder how people will/should treat him

I think a ban is in order, he did not follow the forum rules. Not to mention what he did was actually illegal outside of the internet, so I'm thinking a ban is just a slap on the wrist considering all the stolen objects he "stole".

He'll be lucky if no one gets the law involved, TBH. Just because he's 14 it doesn't give him an excuse, he obviously knew what he was doing was wrong and kept on doing it.

The Grandmother is being extremely kind because she most likely doesn't want to get the law involved. He got caught, plain and simple. He would have kept on scamming people if he didn't get caught.
 
u think a ban will end his misuse of this forum though? he will probably get another username and preform the same injustices.
 
I was raised by my moms only. My dad passed when I was 7. If I would have done something like this I probably wouldn't be able to sit still today. She'd have beat me to death!! No joke my mom isn't a woman that can be messed with. I did stupid things as a teen but stealing would have gotten me beaten or killed. :D She still to this day takes me down a few notches when need be, and I'm 21. Love her to death!!!

Kiddo I wish I could have a talk with you. I did something very stupid when I was young and my mom had me sent away for 52 days. I thank her today because if she wouldn't have I'd probably be dead. Pick the high road kiddo it's hard but it's ALWAYS worth it. Honesty is the best policy. Remember that. :D
 
This is insane. I won his picture contest in the RAT forums with my Izula/squirrel pic and I had email contact with the kid. He said he would send me a prize on 6/21 but never said what it was. I have not received anything yet but if I do I will post it ASAP.

Young Garrett is forgetting something important.

He caused a lot of folks to pay for postage that he should have to reimburse.

As part of his punishment, I think he ought to have to work off this debt and pay back each and every person who sent him a knife.

They are all out time and money. If anyone else contacts the grandmother, I hope they raise this point with her.
 
I can see im in the minority here, but he is just a kid. If all of us got punished to the full extent of the law for things we did as kids, many of us would have been in jail and may even still be there. I know I did some stupid things when I was younger, granted I didn't scam anyone out of there $100+ knives. This kid is probably scared straight. Im sure Jeff told him what could have happened to him as far as the law goes when he talked to him on the phone. He apologized and everyone is getting there knives back. Sometimes you have to live and learn......
