Bails and Chains

Some of the youngsters on the Web have called the chains stupid and even nonsense. Good! More for us!! You gotta love that young ignorance. Ok, now that my old man rant is over, let's take one thing into serious account. I own many old and cheap boys knives and have come to appreciate what folks here like Charlie and Dave have collected over the years. Also these may not be made again for a very long time and I plan on getting as many of them as I can! Whether you like the basic #15 single Spear B&C versions, Charlie's Bar shield, single Clip SFO or the Maher&Grosh 2 blade SFO version, they all, to me anyway, have their right and proper place in Boys knife history! They just make me smile soooo BIG!:)

I'm no youngster but I have to admit that I'm more interested in these from a historical perspective than as practical use items. The bail and chain may grow on me put I don't often wear the type of clothing where a button clip is useful. I am glad that the M&G versions come with replicas of the original ads although seeing the 1919 price of 50 cents is enough to make you shed a tear.

I’m surprised they haven’t been mentioned here more. These are the only ones from this run that interested me, primarily because they are 2 blades and that elusive long pull spear is just irresistible! I chose both!

Looks like they aren’t flying off the shelf all that fast. They are going for a premium, but I think it’s worth it.

Ken was away on a family trip, but he's back in the saddle!! The M&Gs will fly away soon!!
I ordered some!! They are beauties!!

I'm waiting for someone to remove the button hook and attach a pocket watch. That's what I'd do: pocket watch on one end and tucked in the watch pocket. The #15 on the other end and tucked in the main pocket. Of course if I can find one of Charlie's SFOs I'd show you how it's all done :p

I'm really surprised the Maher and Grosh knives are still in stock! It was really hard to choose between the two options. But I have a jigged bone Yankee Whittler, so I went cocobolo this time. :D

Wish I could afford both. One day I'll regret not getting both.

I just bit the bullet and ordered both. I know I would regret missing out so I figured I would save the extra shipping I would pay if I ordered them separately.

Still hoping to score Charlie's SFO but my rabbit's foot is about rubbed raw!

I kind of lost hope after it was hijacked from my cart, today. I just can’t seem to get up to speed.

It always helps to sign in to Paypal before as opposed to during checkout (if possible) and this problem becomes almost nonexistent :)

Hope this helps you expand your knife collection :D

Thank you. This is very helpful. Help is what I was seeking, not snark. Much appreciation.

Please do not discuss the purchasing process in the Traditional Forum.
There are threads devoted to such topics in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly Forum.

The Traditional Forum is for talking about the knives themselves.
