Well, he's in the process of making it right to me; he's sent me the knife I was owed, and will be sending me the cash I lost from the paypal chargeback soon. He's received death threats directed at him and his family, which is apparently why he's cut contact and disabled some social media and gotten in contact with legal entities to resolve the issue properly and safely (which is likely part of the reason the return payment have been delayed). His move to Texas cannot have been the result of a plan to evade the law, else he would not have willingly given that address to people.
I think we should withhold judgement for now. Personally, I'm going to give him a chance to pay back those who received paypal chargebacks before judging him. We'd all do well to be cautious, of course, but as far as I can tell there are many people who have been repaid or had their knives returned. Those who haven't received compensation may want to be patient, I think there's a good chance his legal advisers told him not to do anything until for now.
Maybe he is a scammer, maybe not; I have no hard evidence, but in my eye's he's innocent until proven guilty, and there seems to be a significant amount of people on both sides, so there's no reason to go making assumptions. Just imagine how this would affect someone in the event that it's all just a horrible coincidence.
