Four.... I have this addiction .....

I read once that employees in chocolate factories are encouraged to eat as much as they want...supposedly they soon lose their taste for chocolate...

I am going to try this exact same approach to knife collecting...I figure if I keep on buying them, pretty soon I'll get bored and stop... :)

Knives come in a whole lot more flavors than chocolate, unfortunately.

Preston - You didn't say which 500 was the new one (and I have no way of telling), but I like the bottom one...the semi-hollow grind is nice and straight; where the top one rises up towards the tip...like the BCCI knife...or at least, your pic of it...

It's just personal preference...Like I said; the 277 Alpha lovers will..er, love it... :p ;)

(The pic from 334dave linked in my post has a 426 blade in it)

BTW: I like the way the spine curve from the back bolster to the blade tip "flows" on that bottom 500...the BCCI blade looks almost straight for half its length...

Trax, the bottom knife(500) is the older one I'm not sure how old because it's one of my "rescue knives", it does have the old style script BUCK 500 USA. The grind and shape is different from the two new knives. You stated that the 426 is older so I would expect the blade to be more like the bottom 500.

Trax...did you order a BCCI 110?

Nice knives Pack Rat:thumbup:. Preston

:) ...This BCCI fund-raiser 110 is gonna be one of my "non-EDC's"...Can't wait to see what the 112 companion will look like. A while back when we just started discussing the fund-raiser knife and we had those pics of the prototype up, the one thing I mentioned was that if they could have increased the radius in the belly of the blade it would have been a bit more to my liking. That would have given more of the appearance that Trax seems to like in the 500. I still think the radius is a bit small but all in all it's that "unique" aspect of the knife that makes it appealing to me. My one criticism of the knife I have is that I seem to have lost quite a bit of the bark in the grinding and buffing operation. I have perhaps 30 to 40 percent of the bark left in the middle of the scales and it's very light as well. It's not uinappealing at all, I just "may" have been happier with a bit more bark and less aggressive grinding and buffing on the scales. Each knife is different and unique in itself...that's what makes these knives really nice. We all have our personal preferences though...so...if anyone dislikes too much bark...LOL... Still...a really neat knife...

...Yeah...Not too happy with that but I guess I'm gonna have to live with it...Each one got individually buffed by someone I'm sure...and it may have been a Monday or a Friday when they did it and they weren't in a great mood or something...LOL...Oh well...it is a "Fund-raiser" knife...As a "natural material" imperfections are not a big thing to me...but as for what someone "DOES" to the knife during a process...well...that's something else...

Me to!!!! What a sad day no new knife. However, it gives something to look for tomorrow.

I bet Larry has been living on coffee and 4 hours sleep for the last week... :(

We love you, Larry!!! Keep 'em coming, guy!!! :D

All,
Except for the ten knives still on backorder, the last 100 something boxes are being taken to the post office in about 10 minutes. Look for them to arrive by the end of the week.

WOW, what a beautiful knife that is.:D :D :D

I am curious...which photo are you looking at that is beautiful??? My own personal preference is the "prototype" BCCI knife shown on the 1st page. I've always liked the 426 drop-point blade, and when this project was launched, I thought that Buck would be supplying 426 blades in the 110 body. It would seem I am wrong in that. :(

I'm not saying that the BCCI shipping knife is ugly...it's just not what I thought it would be... :(

Trax,
I have to say I agree with you. The drop point blade should have more "drop" to it. The aesthetics would be much better if the upper contour of the blade was a smooth continuation of the upper contour of the handle.

I agree. I'm also not thrilled with the grind of the hollow...it's too Alpha Hunter-ish... :( It looks OK on an Alpha...but not on a 110...the 426 grind - and curve - looks great on a 110... ;)

I took the week off from work just so I can catch the mailman coming across the lawn! The BCCI 110 looks awesome!

Based on your comments, I'll have to wait and see if I want to get the 112 companion. I was hoping for a blade similar to what is used on the 500 Duke.
