Be Honest... Would you pay $625 for this knife?

No, the shame is you are not accepting the challenge because you are afraid

Make all the excuses you want. It is not apparently worth $30 for you to back up your word (junk talk).

Lol.

I challenge you. Send me your knife. Time to put up and shut up.

Everyone else is full of something. It's like empty calories though, not much to it. Everyone else is completely full of they never used the knife, so how do they know how it will do. That's what they are full of. How many even own or have owned 80crv2, not many since I don't see anyone else talking about their experience with the steel. I'm not complaining, just looking for someone, anyone who has even held one, doubt we will ever hear form someone who uses one. At least I have something to go on as far as the steel is concerned. I know 1095 with a good heat treat is better on the hard woods around me. Only other steel I've seen do as good is 5160. Even 12c27 holds a better edge than 80crv2, based on my experiences.

Even if that blade was sub $100.00 exactly as it is I would pass based on the steel. Experience tells me it's not a wise choice in my parts. That right there is what gets y'all so wound up. So now I'm a troll because I said I'd pass because the steel was a bad choice to construct the blade for my uses and demands for a knife. Don't even tell me you haven't passed on a blade because your experience with it and what you will do with the blade has proven it a bad choice. If not then you haven't used them enough for varying tasks.

Like I said before. Mr. Winkler can come on over and spend a day or two with me on the trails any time he wants to.

I'm still waiting for pictures of your hard used 80crv2 blade, please. Remember, 80crv2 ISN'T 8Cr13mov, like on your beloved Schrades. It's another steel entirely, though I can see how you might have confused the two, what with the "8" and "cr" and "v" in both names. :)

Wrong answer. I simply do not trust anyone. He can send me his and if I feel like it I could have it snapped in two pieces, or more in 5 minutes or less. I don't know him or anyone here so if anyone opens their mouth so wide as to challendpge me the rule is you come to me and we go out and have a good time on and off the trails. That's the only way that goes down. Better yet, you buy one since you are such a fan and you come spend a few days with me. I have a nice guest room and the wife can cook real good for the days we don't eat on the trail.

LMAO So you're backing down? I mean, I'm not surprised in the least, if I'm being honest. I think everyone here but you knows that Mr. Winkler's blade would survive work that your Schrade would be destroyed by.

Personally I very much wish this was a Winkler vs. SCHF9 contest... aesthetically I prefer that knife and if I'm really gonna buy a knife I have no interest in so we can do this test... well. Oh well. If I can find it cheaply enough with quick and hopefully free shipping I'll see what I can do.

The F9 is built tougher than the F37. My brother has a F9 and it's what motivated me to get one after almost everyone I know bought one of the models in 1095.

The SCHF37 has been moved to the I need a bigger knife duties. I got an Ontario Falcon for Father's Day to replace a Fallkniven F1 that took a wave to the edge about 8 months ago that I hadn't replaced yet. Wife did good getting me a similarly sized knife. The poor thing thinks it's bigger than it is though. It's a beast, awesome belt knife. Heavier than the F1 was but so much more tough.

You spend too much time in bizarro world. I accepted. Terms have been set. In grown up world this is how it's done. A challenge is given, then terms are set. Terms are set. And FYI, the only person who can back down from a challenge after it's been accepted, is the challenger. You need more grown up world time before you post like that. You can't say I back down, don't work that way. I make that decision. And last time I checked, you aren't part of the challenge so run along.

Ha, like I said, do you even consider what you post before you write it and hit reply? I'm not the one talking smack. That would be you Boris. You are the one who got challenged by the guy who's knife you have been bashing.

I think we all agree you are the one who needs to put up or shut up (maybe even you agree, cuz it is clear you don't know what you are posting). And remember, this is a pivotal moment. We won't forget how you made excuses on this. It will come up time and time again. You talked such a big game in this thread and now you are backing out. Just know that....

I'm sorry, what? You haven't accepted. You attempted to turn Mr. Winkler's offer around into "I don't trust you, come in person to my murder ranch where I'll take you out on "the trail" so they won't find the body. I don't trust you, but expect you to trust ME." Laughingly, I've seen horror movies with this same plot. Is that banjos I hear?

In any case, it's poor logic, any way you slice it, and it's also typical troll behavior. I've seen it a million times on other forums, usually on car boards where a loud mouth gets asked to race, suddenly it's backsliding, and attempts to change the terms. Mr. Winkler graciously invited you to send a cheap knife in for testing. You refused. So, technically, yes, you DID back down, so let's not try to spin this, mkay?

Someone's living in a bizarro world, but it's not me. LOL In any case, I expect this will be locked shortly, and at this point you're outed as the troll that several of us believed you to be back when you started pushing your "My cheap Schrades are better than any other knife, and I know better because I'm the only one here who actually uses his knives."

Anyway, this has been fun, so I'll sit back and watch this burning rowboat sink beneath the waves.

And this is pure bat poop crazy stuff right here. In what crazy world do you live that you think Mr. Winkler accepted any of your terms? That is not how this works. He put up a challenge and you are not taking it. Sorry, you are backing down if one looks at this in any reasonable perspective. Sorry Boris, you can't win this one until you send him a knife. Be man. Do it. Or your constant superiority complex will get called every time.

To answer the OP, no not for that specific knife however that has nothing to do with the pricing, it's just not my cup of tea. I do like Mr. Winkler's axe's though, and I am appreciative that he took the time to respond to this thread. The price of knives can some times be deceiving however considering Mr. Winklers credentials, this is not the case here. My grandfather paid less than ten dollars for this knife in the late 60's/early 70's however it is worth quite a bit more to collectors now. Also I think it qualifies as taking quite a bit of "hard use".

Yes Sir! Fine knife! Is it an original SOG (as in not the company SOG)?

While I wouldn't purchase the knife in the OP, I do have knives close to that in price that I use extensively so money is not the issue. Nor would I come on here and talk the junk Boris is. It is out of control really.

so what you are saying is you have the knife from the OP and can report to everyone the use of that steel has magically had its properties changed because of who made it and the price. That's all I'm getting from your posts. I'm happy for you that his knife is working out so well for you. Could you post some use pics or videos for us?

Weeeellll this thread will be gone soon, but it has been fun. I hope we squeeze a couple more pages out of it though.

There's really nothing quite like Bladeforums drama. It's a special kind of drama.

Yes it is an original to the best of my knowledge.

Right? It's a shame considering the original topic was quite intriguing.

We definitely need a chill out moment here.

Check out this video of a cat saving a small kid from a dog.

Because why not.

If only the others had the skills you do for conversation. Some of these people must have no social skills.

These guys would rather learn how to drive a race car from cousin Jeb watching nascar on the TV thingy every week than from the drivers in the cars. They don't know nuthin, theys just trolls holding onto a circle thingy in that noise maker over there........

Edit: almost forgot, they also read a steel chart online and read a spyderco advertisement. They know more than everyone now.

What? There is something seriously wrong with you. Hopefully this thread will be shut down soon so we don't have to hear anymore of this drivel. And remember Boris, you backed out on this challenge. Your word is less than you $30 knife.

So did you come here to translate my posts to craytab, or tell everyone why you would buy the knife in the OP. All I'm seeing is you chafing from me talking about my experiences. Like all your other interactions with me.

Like say something with substance to it. Come at with some hey I own this and I can prove you wrong. Other than that it's the same old follow me around and post drivel routine from you.

Add something worth reading or find someone that's submissive to your superiority complex. Ain't happening here.

Better yet, be a man and PM me with your empty disputes. Keep the public area clean of your insecurities.

Nice, have you posted it over in the SOG sub-forum? There are some folks there who would love to see such a thing.

I posted in the ID/Collecting sub forum. I'll make sure to start a thread over there tomorrow as it's a bit late to be sorting through my images.

So Boris, what is your experience with the knife in question? Excuses about "similar" knives need not waste our time. You want folks to post about their experience with this knife? You first! But since this has already been asked of you for pages, and even when you demand the same from others, I am sure you will just post a bunch of excuses, yet again. It is fun to watch though, so go on.

And have you noticed that pretty much everyone takes issue with your posts? It isn't just me. And remember when Mr. Winkler challenged you and you backed out?
