Becker Fall Gathering 2013 - Roll Call Thread !!!

Just talking to Triggs (Christine) and we are very psyched to come down. Gonna start packing and organizing this weekend and likely leave late next Wed. Can't wait to see everyone but we are also somewhat disappointed at all the folks that can't make it - you'll be missed.

In other news, I just taste-tested the pickled eggs, and Miss Angie helped me process my latest batch of pepper relish into a sauce that's not entirely unlike Sriracha. :thumbup:
 
Hey Everybody.....

Got a lot accomplished at Beckerhead Camp........ Ricky cut and split a bunch of beautifully seasoned oak, the little house by the range is serviced, the place has been weed whacked and blown, and a snake exorcism has been performed.....I felt this last was an important step as Psyop will not be here to discourage the wee rascals with indiscriminate fire...... The rain barrel has got it's dose of bleach ....... Paper plates and bowls, paper towels and tp are to hand, the big cooler stands ready for ice........ Have I forgotten anything ?........

Really looking forward to next week........Gonna be a good time by gum, by golly......

Anybody gotta a rough count yet ?......

BTW.......

There is no "official" agenda this time around other than fun.........That having been said, Doc has offered to do a medic workshop and if anyone has stuff they want to work on(fire, traps, shelter, etc) we will either get a small group together or put you with a mentoring sort who will get you further along........ Think Saturday morning for this....... Letme know on this thread so the mentor sorts can see too and put something together........ I am taking bamboo orders so let me know what lengths you want........

Currently plan to arrive at the Gathering Friday about noon. Really looking forward to it . . . this is my first one!

In a recent post you mentioned bamboo . . . If possible I could use a couple pieces about five or six feet long. I hope to make a couple hiking staffs. If not available this long, shorter would also be useful.

Looking forward to meeting you and a bunch of Beckerheads this next weekend.

I'm getting really pumped. Me gustys and Mike will be there Thursday night probably around 9ish. I'm sure gusty would relish the idea of fire making and trap building.

I am hoping everyone is gonna be looking at this and we will get volunteer mentors before the shindig starts because, as we all know, chaos becomes operable from the early Moments......


BTW......... Just in case we get another freaking frog strangler of a rainstorm, bring a cot or thick foam pad..... we have a bunch of space under tin down at the shop and I have cleared it out in case of another wretched weather event......

Just started to rain.......Sooooooo...I checked the long range weather forecast and let us just hope they have it down right....Rain mid week and then fair and moderate for the gathering weekend....... One can only hope .......!!!!!!.......

I'll be bringing a couple bad examples of knife/sheathmaking work, to show what not to do/what to watch out for. Other examples and everyone's input are welcome, and I promise not to get my feelings hurt :D
 
Really sucks I cant make this one, but sh!t happens!

Ethan, Got your message about my daughter, Thanks some much for your well wishes and concern. I'm confident everything is gonna be O.K. just sucks trying to calm a 10 yr. old when your scared yourself of possible outcomes. we should know a lot more next week.

In other news, I apologize for all that was hoping to purchase a T.M.Hunt knife at the gathering. I had 6 that I was gonna send with Murph, but I spoke with a lady in Ohio that carries some of my knives for shows and she said my knives where selling well and was out, I showed her what I had available and to my surprise. She bought every one of them including a couple that I didn't want to sell, (what can I say, the babies need to eat) I have a couple of favorite pieces put back and a Tradewater for Guyon that I literally had to wrestle away from a serious buyer that will be making the trip. but besides that, I got nothing.....Sorry guys.................She even bought the green curly maple Magua right off of my belt. :grumpy: Good problems to have, but maybe someday, I can even have one of my own knives! :D

Im bummed that I wont be able to see all of my friends that have meant a lot to me over the last couple of years, and equally bummed that I wont be able to meet any new persons that will be in attendance. Please all, drive safely, have fun, and drink one for me!

Well got my schedule cleared and can attend if it's not too late to answer the roll call. I made the Spring '12 gathering and haven't made it since, but was duly initiated at that gathering so no rubber chicken needed on my account.... Just me and my Machax.....Small tent.... Friday evening to Sunday.... Looking forward to seeing everybody...
 
do we have a address. I want to see about how far I am. Jobless now but might try to get up the gas $ to make this. I really really need time away
