Beckerhead Gear

Cool. If filled with gasoline, could it double as a thermal detonator?

Oh, that is perfect. I love that, now, can Flexxx make it? That would be the cat's meow right there. Will there be a spot to thread the firesteel in the end somewhere? Or is it just a storage slot for it?

Okay, the firesteel would have a small threaded tube that would fit over the end of it, say about .5" long or so. You could screw it into the tube to hold it inside, or unscrew it, flip it around, then screw it in to use the device as a handle. The other big hole could be for storage. Regular threaded cap at that end. I have no idea if he can make it though. I would think the hardest part would be the overall shape, in which case we could just square everything off and start with stock and cut until fairly close, or similar, or even another shape, depending on what you guys wanted. That is my idea anyways.

That is really nice Derek! By reversible, do you mean that the firesteel end could be turned around and screwed back into the unit, essentially making the unit itself a handle?? Cause that would rock...

Nevermind...you answered up there ^

Fire pistons are neat, the concept behind them anyway, but if I am going to buy something, it is going to be something a little more useful.

useful? they are the bic lighters of the fire starting world. useful!

if i'm carrying a firesteel THAT BIG it had better say, ALSO be a light saber :)

whoa :)

or battery powered at least... it should THROW the sparks for me :)

push button spark thrower

and a flashlight!

plus, extruded pony!

Er, sorry, I messed up. The pic shown is with a storage chamber that is 1.25" big. I meant to have it either .75" or 1". Anyways, you get the idea. Hell, it could be whatever size you guys thought would be best. But the small tube is sized for the 3/8"x4" gg firesteel blank, so that stays as is.

That's what I was thinking about. And the threaded cap for the steel would have at least one small tapped/threaded hole on the side for a set screw to hold the steel firmly in place (and allow you to easily change out to a new steel).

Me likey.

Aye, it would.

yes... something like that :)

with a pre-drilled area for a tritium capsule :) heh...

oh, and a thong hole (or for making a bad ass keychain when deliverating pizzas)

and a rail mounting system for accessories :D

ooh ooh, and if say, there was a way to attach an ESEE arrow head to the cap, and then you'd have a thrusting spear ;)

or big enough to put a BK13 inside. well, exacto blades, really. mmm...

Bladdy, I don't know what you put in your coffee, but send some my way.

For one thing it is not a symmetrical design, I will not be able to drill a hole on the side of the shaft, I am looking at spending a few thousand dollars on a lathe, to purchase a mill would cost around the same amount, I cant buy a mill just to drop a hole in one project.

They are all good designs but if you want some super 007 fire starter, I will not be able to create it with the machine I will soon own.

I was just thinking somthing simple but unique for all of us.....

I'm not an official Beckerhead yet but I would certainly be interested in one when I get my # Great idea.

Here is what I was thinking on the fire piston, so before you blow it off just check it out.

I also was thinking of making the fire-piston and using paracord like in the picture below, or going back to the idea of making a fire-steel and using paracord style in the picture

Here are alot of examples and I can make any of these designs they are all symmetrical.
