Beckerhead Knife Making and Modification Thread

Wow, that's some serious cutting on that 11. Looks cool. Fit in an Altoids tin?

Thanks man. It is just a little big for a tin.

Where the hell did the bottle opener go?!?
Come on, man!

Let's see Rev2! :D

(that's brilliant, btw)

Haha. It's gone brother. May weld it to the back of my BK-16. :)

Thanks!

You have my attention.

LOL. Awesome. Now you just have to wait a little longer.

I will ditto this. Quite the tease, posting that pic with no explanation whatsoever.

Isn't a picture worth a thousand words?

He knew what he was doing.

Haha

Very cool!!!

Next.... in hand pics :)

Thanks buddy! I will soon.

So She needs a little more work and I may Grind 1/8 to 3/16's more for the finger area.

It's hunting season and I wanted to make a little skinner. I use the pinch grip. Pinky and ring finger fit on the handle, thumb and middle finger fit on either side of the blade, and the pointer finger goes on the tip. Will add my new signature jimping to the tip also.

It is inspired the Candiu, my favorite small knife.

I sanded the coating down a little bit and have to say that it isn't bad. If they did that at the factory, I think people would really dig it.

Will strip it but wanted to try it like this first. Am kinda having second thoughts and my leave it on.

That is really neat Dex!

Thanks man!

Here are a few pics of the current state of this little beauty.

Two finger on handle, two finger pinch grip with pointer finger on tip for best control.

I really need a BK&T knife that fits in a tin. I will need a tin as well.
What are you guys doing to me

That's REALLY sweet looking, Dex.

I think the only explanation needed is......Awesome.

I'd say that's a pretty good explanation. Very cool, Dex.

Biru is on shop duty tonight. Baked a piece of kydex for the 7 tonight, cooling off in the foam as I type. I'm not calling it tactical anymore though, given the smackdown that word is getting in snark. Even so, if my plan of attack is to open a beer with a pretty big knife, this 7 would be the first tactic I would employ. Which does make it "tactical".

Thanks Buddy!

Very cool Dex.

Appreciate it man.

Well Dex, You did it again. I can see that little skinner doing any number of tasks.

Thanks Hawkhead. It really is a fabulous knife. Gonna probably add it to my EDC.

Dex, that is a sweet looking little BK11 abomination. I love it!

Thank you Jerry!

Well put my friend. Thank you.

And can't wait to see your 7 in the finished sheath. That thing came out really nice.

So I am so glad I got that little knife made. My neighbor ended up shooting a buck last night for me with his bow. It was one we were trying to cull from the herd.

So let's just say the little 11 performed way better than I could have imagined. To be honest, it was the first time I skinned a deer and quartered it up with out getting at least one little cut or nick. The blade became part of my hand. Tried to take a few pictures but the wind was blowing and it in the very low 30's.

But since the blade has no ricasso or plunge line, I could actually cut in way deeper than a normal knife that size when needed. The only two knifes I used were the new modded 11 and my EDC 11. And I only used the edc 11 to baton thru the sternum and to baton the ribs off. And also cut some of the knuckles for getting the hind quarters off the body and stuff.

Kinda hard to get good in action pics since I finished up alone. But don't worry, I will be using this little guy a lot more this year.

I used the knife to also remove all the back straps, front shoulder meat, and basically everything else.

Usually I use knives around the size of the 16 for deer hunting, but this was actually easier I think? Crazy.

Candiru who? Dex, that is a seriously cool little knife!

It would be cool to see a concept where the bottle opener could still be incorporated on the end. *cough*Dubz*cough*

That's a sweet little knife, Dex. Looks like it came in damn handy.
That looks like a good deer to get out of the gene pool.

Mike, that looks great. And purple. I bet you are excited to have it so close to done.

awesome work with that littlized 11, Dex!
I'm not surprised it's easier than a 16 *at all*.
My buddy and I did my last deer entirely with a pair of 3" knives with purpose-designed blades. I was pleased and VERY proud. :D
Control is more important than blade length.
