Beckerhead Knife Making and Modification Thread

It sure was buddy. It was based off the first drawing I had and set into action after our conversation. I just had to try it out. My first drawing actually had a choil kinda like we talked about but I drew this one and thought it would work better for a skinner. It is very similar to the candiru but I like this one much more. lol
And thanks man. Are you gonna mod your Candiru? I'd like to see that.

Actually I was thinking almost exactly what you did. Not so much a choil as a cut out to allow more hand on the handle.

My first of three BK16 modified knives is completed. The walnut scales are solid and straight grained. I call it my light chore knife, although I am certain it could tackle anything I would use it for. It has a satin 800 grit finish.

Incredible work my friend.

Wow, hawk. That is just gorgeous. Bet it'll look just as good with a patina....that thing is just screaming; "use me!" My 7 isn't even in use (yet) and the blade polish is already getting screwed up just from making the sheath.

....Well, I was gonna post a few pics but apparently the flickr people have some other ideas. Namely that they're forcing me to create a yahoo.com account with out having done the legwork of actually making the sign in page work.

Pics later, then.

HH, amazing work bud!!

You have a great eye for seeing the possibilities in things! Keep it up!!

Thanks Granite. I plan to use it during hunting season.
Thanks Worldwood. I am always grateful when you professional knifemakers take time to view my mod work. I have many of my own designs drawn and awaiting fabrication. I have chosen a real grinder now it is just my getting ready for it's arrival.

I wouldnt go that far now LMAO!!!!!! Im a novice at best. But thanks for boosting me up :D

What grinder you going with? Ill be real happy when i can get a variable speed one myself!! But so far the craftsman 2X42 does make some things MUCH easier and quicker than hacksaws and files LOL

I'm buying a Wilmont LB1000. As I progress (hopefully), I will add attachments. I have a 2x42 and use it for profiling my mods and truing up my wood blocks for scales. I'm also setting up a small shop in the garage. I have learned quite a bit from James Terrio, Todd Hunt, Daizee, you and others. I am very thankful for the extra eyes and advice from everyone.

OK, flickr's fixed. I even made a good first guess at what the password might be.

I was saying that my 7's already getting snail trails on it from the sheath making process.

But the sheath is coming along....think I'm gonna put a piece of leather on it for the belt loop. Still trying to figure out how I want it to look, and if I can make it detachable, since I don't generally wear things on my belt. Also going to try and mill some slots in between the rivets for a MOLLE type setup. And find some purple MOLLE straps ;).

Might even get it done before Christmas.

HOT DAMN!!
(and some lowercase characters so the forum doesn't downcase that statement)

This is a Wharncliffe fixed blade that I made on my 2x42 grinder. Steel was scrap heat treated .125" 420 stainless I received from my nephew. Blade is 3.625" long, convex, and polished to 800 grit. It still needs more work before the straight grained walnut scales are carved and oil finished. There will be two silver pins. This was a "see if I can do it from scratch" project. I need the practice to build muscle memory while learning the lessons from the forum pros.
