Beckerhead Knife Making and Modification Thread

Hey Dubz. Speaking of the Becker mods, sometime before Xmas I plan on making a Beckizashi of some sort. I was thinking an elongated 5 with a shallower grind would look good. Did you run any up like that? Thinking 24" OAL would be a good length. Also thinking about whether it would be worth elongating the handle as well or not. Do you happen to have anything along those lines for reference? If not I can sketch it up myself, but yours are just so PRETTY, ya know?

Do a quick sketch of what you have in mind, and I'll give it a whirl.

Something quite different - saw a video on BF about Tero Tuf and decided to try it out - here's what I came up with"

Damascus blade is just over 4 inches and OAL is about 7 1/2 inches. The Tero Tuf was pretty easy to shape with no particular issues and I really like the result. If anyone is interested in this knife please PM or email me.

Thanks

Steve

Looks like an idea I had. Here's the progression I did in GIMP for the 5. After using it however, I'm not gonna touch it:

Cool gimp work

Before I got my 15 in my grubby hand, I thought about making it a mild drop point, from looking at the pictures. Then when I got it, I like it so much, I aint grindin' on it either :D

Got my 15 project finished. Don't think I'll use the gloss poly again....I think I like the satin or semi-gloss better. Easier to hide imperfections with those, IMO.

I really like the first one in that progression Dubs. I plan on something similar in the future for a 15. I think losing the upsweep would be great on the tweener because the belly is more flat than the 5.

GSOM, the only thing wrong with that mod is the lighting. :-D

Dubz, I really like those mods. Straightening the spine is a great start. As glorious as the 5 is as-made, personally I'm a bit terrified of short trailing points (shorter than a scimitar) because I feel like the tip is coming at my face if I swing it. Good technique takes a lot of discipline.

Yah, I know....wanted to get some pics of it and totally sacrificed photographic integrity. It goes through apples and cheese like no other Becker I own, though:

I know....more bad lighting. Tomorrow in the daylight.

Got to work a little more on my side project the other day, and that side project created... another side project lul

The sawzall blade I was using to cut / shape my seax was warn out. So I took it to my 4x32 and decided to grind it a tad :D
